The rules of this world:

Marks cannot be world-altering, no one can have a Mark that gives them something like Telekinesis or an otherwise world-changing ability.

Marks came from a foreign planet. A long time ago, some horny aliens went to Egypt, fucked some people, and those people spread their genes with the Marks being a recessive gene. Marks have spread throughout most of the world and thus are not seen as completely strange when you have one.

Marks can only be taken through cannibalism, more specifically, eating someone's heart. The average-Joe doesn't know that you can take someone's Mark, nor do most people with Marks, but people with particularly powerful Marks are often informed by whichever government they live under.

While people with Marks are praised by society, that doesn't mean the average person will drop to their knees and blow them. All laws in society that apply to the regular person also applies to a person with a Mark.

I put no limit on when the story can take place, it can be modern-day, the future in space, medieval times, etc. I implore you to get creative!
