For Haily

They sat there in silence. He was dressed and seemed to be on his way out of the slump. "For Haily. Huh. She's a lucky girl." She started to rub his back. "I'm not going to force you to do anything else. You have a foot in the door. If you want help you'll have to come to me. you understand." That was a relief. He was expecting her to force him to paint his nails or wair to make up. He nodded as she stood up. Rummaging through her handbag and pulling out a phone. "Denis will be back soon. Let's get some food in you and we can talk with Denis when he's back." She led him to the kitchen and sat him down. "Denis said. you usually have bacon and eggs." She started to cook. He heat was too high, There was a shell in the eggs. she was terrible. "You suck at this." She turned. "Reggy cooks for me." He started to eat it. it was barely edible. "How have you lived this long?" She gave him a look "I got a magic mouth." She winked trying to keep a straight face, "Jesus, I like guys that can cook. so I never learnt and I'm worth the effort." She went back to the eggs, they were burnt. "I'll teach you how to cook if you want." she looked at him almost insulted "Fuck that. If Reggy thinks I can cook he'll make me do it." He shrugged. taking a bite of bitter and burnt bacon. "Naa my mum told me if a man can cook he will cook." she shrugged. "Fine." she smiled. He felt like she didn't have many friends. "I'll teach you makeup and shit when yon need me to."

The door opened and Denis walked in looking tired with Haily strapped to his chest. He ran up to them. Haily was giggling. This was probably the most time she spent with Denis. "I'm so sorry. I won't miss the next one." He gave him his finger to hold. She seemed happy enough. "Don't worry. I took her on a long walk and got her a new teddy." It was what Danny would have done. "Thank you." Denis nodded. as Danny got her out of the chest harness and sat Haily down in her crib. She quickly fell asleep. "You look good-ish." Danny shrugged. "You got rid of my clothes. So your opinion doesn't count. I'm stuck with good-ish." Denis smiled patting him on the back. "Still look better than before. He walked to Alice giving her a hug. "Thanks for the help." She pinched his side. "Fuck off. I saw the clothes you got are you mental?" He took a step back. Danny cut in. "don't shout Hailys sleeping." Denis countered in a quiet voice. "Hold on. There the newest stuff. It cost a ton." She nodded. "Yeah for club girls. Why not throw him in the ocean to teach him to swim." She was clearly angry. "But he had boy clothes so he could work..." She cut him off. "That's not how it works if he had a choice he won't change. You have to start at tomboy. Then move from there. or you make no progress." He nodded in defeat and looked at Danny for help. Danny looked away watching Haily sleep. Leaving Denis to deal with Alice. He felt a bit better and wasn't going to neglect Haily again.

She was sleeping so soundly, like a little angel. He put her teddy in the crib with her and went back to Denis and Alice. they had finished arguing. and were talking. "Hows Reg?" She smiled. "Great. he's catering a wedding soon." Denis nodded. "That must have cost them a lot." Danny joined in. "You know her boyfriend?" He nodded. "Yeah, he's my brother. Alice is helping to return a favour." She scoffed. "Reggy got him to give me a job behind the bar." He nodded. "Yeah and if you weren't so abrasive you'd get along with the others." She moved her hand in time with his words. "Yeah, Yeah. I'm going to head home. Mabie I'll Peg your brother." Smiled at Denis's disturbed face. Then handed Danny a piece of paper. "Call me if you need any more help." He nodded. "What does that mean?" She smiled, "I'm a top." She winked and left. Danny turned to Denis "My condolences." He nodded. "She's always like that." He sat down. and they went about there day.
