Chapter 4

Who does she convict?

Football player

Rachel was feeling power-hungry with her newfound role. She was walking by a football practice when she noticed a cocky football player that she knew from school. His name was Tommy Miller. He was strutting around the field giving orders to his teammates and rough housing with them. Rachel thought he needed a change of perspective.

She went up to him and accused and convicted him of toxic masculinity in front of the whole team. Red-faced, Tommy knew exactly what that entailed and his teammates did too. They were all behind his back snickering quietly among themselves about Tommy’s situation.

Tommy would have to leave the football team. Playing football was not an appropriately feminine activity for a man convicted of toxic masculinity. His only hope for playing this football season was to do whatever needed to be done for his month long period of femininity then get back on the team at the end of the month.

He submitted his game plan to Rachel the next day. In it, he said that he’d begin volunteering, take up poetry and crocheting, and go to a couple ballets. Rachel immediately discarded his proposal and gave him hers. She stipulated that he would not just go to a couple ballets but join the ballet. In fact, his toxic masculinity would not be considered fully rehabilitated until he played the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker. There was a showing of this ballet by the local ballet at the end of the month. Until that time came, his attire would be limited to his current or former girlfriends’ prom and homecoming dresses, cheerleading outfits, or Halloween costumes. He would also be required to cook for his current and former girlfriends at least weekly and do all of their laundry to their specifications.
