Food to Mary's, and let Sarah take the lead

"Would you like to kiss me, Sarah?" you ask.

Sarah tilts her head up. Her eyes reflect the arch of lights above the ladies' lounge mirror. She holds her eyes steady on yours for a long moment, staring. She blinks. Nods. "Yes, Gloria," she says. "Yes."

You circle your arms gently around her, tilt your head, and let her press her lips to yours. Your heart beats fast, and your mouth waters hungrily. But this is Sarah's first lesbian kiss, and you take it at her speed.

Her speed is slow, to start, but you find yourself pressed against the Ladies' Room door with Sarah devouring your face with kisses. When she nips at your earlobe, you cry "Ah!" and stumble, thumping against the door.

You hold up a hand.

"Guess we better not?" Sarah says.

"No more, not now, not here," you say. "Maybe tonight, a little later. Let's find out if Shasta has figured out her boyfriend thing."

"Yeah," Sarah says. "And yeah. Tonight. If we can. I don't know if I want talking or kissing or what."

"Everything at your speed," you say. "So now you've kissed a girl, and?" You smile, raising your eyebrows as you say girl, given the silver threads starting in your hair and your own college-age daughter Jillian.

"Haha, and I liked it," Sarah says. She holds the door open for you.

The restrooms are off a side hall with an empty floor space marked by four little grimy circles suggesting a departed cigarette machine.

Shasta's waiting at your table with the take-out bags. "Brett's coming over from the far side, he'll meet us at Mom and Dad's," she says.

"Oh, they fixed the wash-out at the top of the valley?" Sarah says.

"If they didn't, it's gonna take him a while," Shasta says.

"Well, I'd expect he'd know if the road was out," Sarah says. "Mom would. Dad wouldn't."

"Yup," Shasta says. "We ready to go?"

"All set," you say.

"Thanks so much, Gloria," Shasta says. "I was afraid we were gonna be stuck out there on the edge of town."

Sarah laughs. "I had a ride lined up, I bet you coulda," she says.

"Well yeah, okay, that Janine gal," Shasta says. "I guess she bought your act."

"Shas-taaa," Sarah complains.

"Just kidding," Shasta says. "Gonna go freshen up, then let's go."

"Fixing her face for Brett," Sarah says. "Lip gloss and a little hair brushing, anyway. Dunno if he'll notice."

The stars are coming out as you take the road up the side of a hill to Mary and Brian's place with take-out dinner for Mary and a freshly lip-glossed Shasta anticipating a reunion with her ex-boyfriend, and plans with Sarah to do more kissing, or talking, or maybe letting your fingers do a little walking around each others' panties.
