Chapter 33 by Maikeru_Katari Maikeru_Katari

What's ringing?

Food, relaxing and clearing the air

The ringing is an alarm from Bella's phone. "Food's ready." She says quickly while turning of the oven and pulling out the fresh, steaming rows of sizzling meat. The smell sets your appetite into overdrive despite the disturbing facts you had to go through.

"Bella I meant to ask, but why did you cook when we've got an auto cooker in the corner?" Lucy asks your sister who faces away.

"I don't like how food tastes from it." She turns around and starts handing out plates of food filled with bacon, sausages and hash browns. "Plus I needed to apologise to Michael." She meets your shocked face with a shy smile.

"Ooooh! Gossip time. Come on spill!" Lucy happily giggles. "Apologise for what? Come on tell me!"

"It's just something I said earlier. And you were right." She takes a seat next to Heather and turns to look at Lucy. "And that's all I'm saying little sister." Lucy fake pouts.

"Fine then. I'll just have to ask my dearest brother. Biiiig broootheeer!" She pleas in a sweet voice while grabbing your hand in both of hers. "Pretty, pretty please tell me what Bella said. She's being a big meanie and won't tell meeeee!"

Everyone laughs at her child-like act. The food tastes amazing and everyone voices their agreement, some more than others, and everyone happily scoffs down their whole plate.

After eating the whole room agrees to relaxing. Your party shifts into a different living room, just encase your parents were busy. With a mix of board games, mobile phones and just talking with each other the rest of the day starts to pass by quickly. The growing storm outside seems to get closer as well.

Part way through some games Charlie strolls up to you, hands in his pockets, and asks you to come with him. You walk down the hallways for a little while before he finally comes to a stop. For once he has a serious look set upon his face.

"What you've done for me Michael. I haven't thanked you for it yet, for any of it." His cheeks flush as he speaks, probably the first time he's ever thanked you for anything sincerely. "Saving my life when you didn't have to and bringing me with you to your house. Honestly, I'm surprised. I thought for sure you'd hate my guts but after all you've done, I don't know, it feels weird to me."

You shift into a more relaxed stance. "You wanted to thank me? Why bring us down here then?"

"I wanted to know how you feel and why you saved me?" He focuses his stare onto you waiting for a response.

"Truthfully..." No point lying. Much. "I didn't hate you, I hate the way you treat Sam. She's not just a piece of meat for you to eye up whenever she's around. At the start of the year I thought we might've been good friends, sure you joke around a lot but you're also super loyal to your friends. You look at life in a positive way and can make a joke out of anything, you change the mood of a room just by a few words. And I hate it. I don't hate you... I'm just..." Jealous that your girlfriend is the girl I like. Jealous that he can make friends with almost anyone instantly. Jealous that-

"Wow." He looks uncomfortable, no shock really with what you just said. "I... I'll try not to upset Sam anymore. I'm just a guy so eyeing up a good looking girl is mostly natural for me but... It's the least I can do for you." You both stand silently looking at each other.

"Sooo. Do you wanna like shake hands on it or something?" He laughs and grabs your hand firmly. On the way back he pats your back.

"I appreciate what you said about me though. Didn't think you were so interested in me." He gives you a wink and enters the room first.

Towards the end of the day exhaustion seems to be taking a toll on everyone. Leaving the room you take everyone to a spare bedroom and leave them to get settled in. Heather and Charlie share a room however. Just something I'll need to get over. Although her mouth was really good.

With a dreamy smile on your face you absentmindedly walk back to your room. Bella stands outside leaning against your door. "Bella." She stands up and tucks a lock of black hair behind her ear.

"Hi Michael." You close the distance until she's a step away from yourself.

"Is there something you need?" You ask with a hint of worry in your voice.

"Yes, do you remember earlier when I wanted to apologise?" You nod your head. "I had something else to use as an apology."

You raise your eyebrows. "Oh, and wha-" She pulls your top and catches your lips with hers. The forceful grasp makes you stumble and you grab onto her small breasts through her thin tank top, to avoid falling over. She doesn't break away, instead she probes your mouth with her tongue and pulls you closer.

The kiss seems to last ages when it's probably been less than a minute. She pulls away slowly with red cheeks and a clouded gaze in her blue eyes. "Goodnight brother." She turns and leaves. You watch her smooth legs all the way until she turns out of sight. Only then do you realise how fast your heart is beating.

"Goodnight Bella." You whisper as you open your door.

Sweet dreams or midnight wonder?
