Chapter 9 by SingingLark SingingLark

So will you continue on "his" tale, or risk a worst punishment?

Follow the goblins

While you hate the idea of risking yourself, you hate even worse having a penalty on a stat that impacts every other aspect of the sheet! You wait a little, feel the soft wind blowing against them, and then starts prowling after them. You notice that the raven is also shadowing you.

They move with purpose. They have scouts, two goblins that walk ahead of the other ten, but they are lazy and cowardly. The group itself is noisy, they bicker and fight each other constantly. The shaman is brooding as his minions run loose.

You follow them for a good hour.

There is a change in their tone, telling you the next glade is their destination. You cant really hear at first what they are saying, but there is a voice that seemed more refined than the goblinoid's bestial grunts. You circle warily, until you can find a good point of view.

There is a knight at the center of the glade. Strong, tall, young, handsome. He is wearing a thick armor, the kind of excessive protection one would expect in a game where women fight half naked. His shield carry the arms of a roaring lion with a flaming mane. Despite his lack of scars and dashing looks, you suspect he is an experienced warrior with several victories in the battlefield.

The raven lands next to you, and you finally notice you have been holding your breath, you feel cold in your stomach. Your heart is racing. How will I escape? you think, if they notice you. A goblin band would be hard enough to elude, but a potentially high level knight? Your bird companions peck you lightly on your calf, and you notice you were trembling.

You look again at the knight. He is shouting at the goblins, and even the shaman seems contrite. He is speaking in their tongue, but you think you can guess what they are saying. She had something important. She was holding something important. "Hawket" is the word. Locket? You take out her locket and to your surprise that knight DOES look like him. And her. And it was enchanted.

Intuition used successfully! Not all magical charms are there to help you.

You let it go as he unsheathes his sword. Your keen senses pick the aroma of almonds in the air as he barks another threat at the goblins. His sword starts to glow. The shaman's necklace starts to glow. A ring around another goblin's finger start to glow. A dwarven hand axe carried by another. And the locket at your feet.

It takes about five seconds for his eyes to find you.

That was your head-start. The raven was even faster.

"Whure Nave!" you hear, and the myriad of steps tripping and hitting each other as they start running after you.

Goblin A throws spear at Yuliana Moonwhisper and miss.
Goblin B throws stone at Yuliana Moonwhisper and miss.
Goblin C deals 10 damage to Yuliana Moonwhisper with an arrow. You now have a minor wound.
Goblin D deals 9 damage to Yuliana Moonwhisper with an arrow.
Goblin Shaman casts torpor at Yuliana. Yuliana loses 20 stamina points.

Bleeding, you press on. A goblin somehow cut ahead of you and sets to gut you with his spear.

Yuliana Moonwhisper deals 9 damage at Goblin K [Base 6 +50% charge bonus]. Goblin K is dead.

Was it wounded, or did it just have low hit points? You turn around a tree, and as you hear the steps of another goblin you strike again

Yuliana Moonwhisper deals 5 damage at Goblin E [Base 5]. Goblin E is dead.
Goblin D deals 5 damage to Yuliana with an arrow. You now have a light wound.
Sir Lawrence casts Champions Challenge. Yuliana must move towards and attack Sir Lawrence.

_Fucking agro! _you scream inwardly as you somersaults over the goblin's body, and charges at the superiorly armored Knight.

He is leering at you. His shield appears to be everywhere, it didnt matter if you spun left, right, slashed or thrust. The goblins begin to catcall and laugh. You know you have **** but surrender.

"I... I yield" you say without activating your surrender trait. You let go of your weapon. Its balance was good, but you are just an unskilled noob. You are awfully conscious of how revealing your outfit is, and how lusty these goblins are. Perhaps there is a way to convince him to keep her for himself.

"...the Gods must love me. Another elfin priestess of Avanil." he still has that menancing aura about him, with his charged counter attack, but he sheaths his sword. Rascal you think. "...and you had my pendant. Did you uncover our plot? Were you bringing it as evidence to the Whore?" he says the word with some hostility, but no spite.

Sir Lawrence successfully intimidates Yuliana. You cant lie.

"No... I didnt. I just though it was hers. And wanted to bring it back to her beloved or her family" he laughs at you, and you feel humiliated. He orders something to the goblins, and the little critter brings him the pendant. "Well, it is mine. I gave it to her not so long ago. So why dont you do that?"

Sir Lawrence activates the Pendant of Lagmir.

The knight tosses the pendant at you.

Do you catch it?
