Follow the challenger or talk to your father with Wally?
Follow the challenger to talk to her
You took a moment to glance at Wally moving over to talk to your father, then went back out the door. At first you didn't see her, but then you heard sniffling from around the corner of the gym, followed by a cry of anger and a dull thud.
You poked your head around the corner, and saw the girl who had challenged your father glaring at the wall of the gym, her fist still against it where she had punched it and tears in the corners of her eyes.
"Are you alright?"
The trainer who had challenged your father jumped at your voice, quickly wiping her eyes and then leaning against the wall and acting casual. "Of- Of course. Need some help?" Her pretense was not helped by the voice crack when she started talking.
"I just wanted to talk to you." You replied. "I saw the end of your battle with my dad." You gestured towards the gym. "Sorry he's such a jerk."
She blinked. "Your dad? Oh. So... you're Norman's son?"
You nodded. "Yeah. But no need to be polite about him on my account, that just means I know what he's like even better than most people who have to deal with him."
"Oh." She looked uncomfortable at your candidness.
"So are you alright?" You repeated your question. "It looked like you were taking his criticisms pretty hard."
She sighed. "... Yeah, I just managed to vent most of my frustration."
You gave an exaggerated show of examining the wall where she had punched it. "Hm.... I guess you must have, there's a little bit of an indent here now."
"Wait really?!" She looked with you.
You chuckled. "No, not really. I'm just teasing."
She flipped you off, but smiled as she did so. "I probably ought to go get my pokemon healed now."
