Lexi walked down the hallway, smiling at a few of the familiar faces. It was fair to say F&R was her kind of place: a good volleyball team, friendly people and plenty of good times to be had. It was however where she knew she would find Duke. The Rottweiler seemed to fit into most of the stereotypes of the breed, which essentially boiled down to macho as hell, with brains in the inverse. It was not surprising Duke was retaking his final year at F&R. He wasn't a jerk though and Lexi had quite enjoyed their last meeting.

As she entered the room, he saw him sitting at a table just to the left of her. The bar was pretty empty with the lunchtime rush subsiding, but with Duke retaking he didn't have to worry about classes.

There was a steady, *Thump* *Thump* *Thump*, as Lexi approached him. She could see his ears prick up and his tongue protruded from his jowled mouth as he smiled.

'Hey! Hi, Lexi'

She giggled a bit as he spoke, he always lisped her name when he said it, pronouncing it as 'Lecthi' and she thought it was just adorable.

She patted his head affectionately, 'How ya' doin' dork? You have a good day so far?'

The thumps from Duke's chair grew louder and quickened in tempo. 'Hmm, Yes! Today has been good! I broke my record!' Duke beamed.

His smile was endearing and infectious, and she found herself grinning back, 'Oh didya' now? How far was it this time?' She had assumed the Rottweiler was talking about his batsmanship and was surprised when Duke shook his head.

'No, not that. Although I am always improving,' He boasted proudly, 'No, I mean on the written mocks. I'm finally passing!' Duke looked like he might jump up and down in his seat. His exuberance was not lost on her.

Duke nodded, 'Sure thing Lexi. Whatever you want!'

Lexi cleared her throat, 'So, my sister. She been having this weird feelin' that people are ignoring her. Ya' know anythin' about that?'

Duke recoiled from Lexi's outburst looking solemn indeed, 'Lexi, look. She went to the medical wing and the last person to do it with her hasn't been seen for days. What else could it be?'

Lexi narrowed her eyes, 'You believe all that crap?'

Duke shrugged, clearly uncomfortable. Lexi felt a flicker of pity, it wasn't Duke's fault this had happened, and it wasn't right to take it out on him. 'Duke. I'm sorry. Dya'know who started the rumor?'

The Rottweiler shook his head, evidently keeping silent to avoid setting Lexi off again.

She sighed and rubbed his shoulder, 'Look I didn't mean ta shout at ya. You've been really helpful,' She winked, 'When ol' grumpy ain't around I'll pay ya back.' She glanced over her shoulder, 'Speakin' of which, I should probably get a move on.' She leaned forward and planted a kiss on his furry forehead. She head a *Thump* *Thump* from Duke and smiled, 'Alright, see ya'
