FoA S2 Chapter 11

It’s better in the morning.

You were so tired and stressed yesterday that things seemed worse and more complicated than they really are.

You and Fang behaved yourselves last night, which was a little awkward after what happened. You like her, and it’s impossible not to want her, especially now as she lies beside you in the bed, sleeping. The normal panties that she wears are much less effective than your briefs at containing a penis, and her morning wood is just poking out in the open as she sleeps on peacefully. It’s very cute.

There was no doubt that she wanted seconds last night, and now, seeing her like this, you do too. But that’s not going to happen, at least not today. You sneak out of there. That will save you both some awkwardness. Fang is sweeter, more thoughtful, and hornier than you ever realized. She is too good for Free Gurls.

As you enjoy the warm air, riding back to your place through Gurlberg’s quiet streets, you picture Riley in bed, lying there in the morning, just like Fang was a few minutes ago. Did Caroline spend the night with Nina? Doesn’t she feel bad? Well, that’s not your problem now. You got the video. You did what was asked of you. Fang and Caroline did all the hard work, but the end result is that Stef should be satisfied.

You take a long shower, then pull on some briefs and flop on your bed. Now you keep thinking about Fang and wishing you could’ve been with her with a clearer head.

You need to eat something. As you’re in the kitchen frying eggs, Stef texts you to come into the club. Good; you need something to do. After you eat, you text Riley, telling her that you’ll call her later and that you’re sorry for not replying last night. If she’s mad, she’s not showing it.

No texts from Fang, but you expected that. She’ll act casual about what happened.

You find the clubhouse the same as always during the daytime. It’s empty, and Tanya’s not around. You find Stef, Vicky, and Carla in the meeting room. Stef isn’t as put together as usual. She never dresses up, but her jeans and tops are always nice, and her makeup is usually perfect. She’s worn down with stress. You’re starting to understand how that feels.

Carla smiles at you tiredly as you take your seat.

“How’d it go?” Stef asks.

“Have you seen the video yet?” you ask back.

She nods. “Yup.” The fact that they aren’t laughing their assess off and joking about the video, watching it right now, shows how serious this is. If this works out, maybe then you can all watch it together.

“So you kind of know how it went,” you tell them.

“I know what Fang told me,” Stef says.

You shrug. “Caroline knows what she’s doing. And Fang handled the video. I was extra, but it went smooth.”

“You don’t look smooth, Adella,” Carla notes.

You sigh. “I’m OK. What do we do now?”

“Now, I’m going to go drop in on Ellen. It’s better if we go through her. If possible, Nadia never knows this happened. She’ll only know that Ellen’s not pressing the charges. That way nobody gets hurt,” Stef explains.

“And if Ellen doesn’t play it the way you want her to?” Vicky asks.

Stef and Carla exchange a look. “Then I’ll be arrested and I’ll get charges,” Stef says with a shrug.

“Jesus.” For a while, you felt like you were all doing the work while Stef just made the decisions, but that’s not the case. She has the hardest job of all: committing a crime in front of the police chief’s face.

“It’ll work out,” Carla assures you. “Things aren’t good between us and Ellen now, but we used to be friends. And she is friends with Nadia. She will take the deal that we’re offering. Don’t worry, Adella.”

“Too late. I’m worried,” you reply.

“Relax. You still have to do your part.”

“There’s more? Oh my god.” You groan.

“Adella, you wanted to be one of us,” Stef reminds you.

“I know. I’m ready.”

“Good girl,” Carla says. “While we meet with Ellen, Fang is going to track down Stark. Once she’s tailing her, you and Vicky are going to take the merch and drive it across the county line. You have to meet with Minnie from Sun Girls. She’ll take the merch. Simple. We just can’t have Stark nailing it on the way out.”

“Wait,” Fang says, startling you. You notice Carla’s phone on the table. So Fang is listening in on speakerphone. “You can’t use the van. Stark might have tipped off other departments to watch for it.”

“We already thought of that, Fang. We traded the van for one that Stark doesn’t know. It’ll be an easy drive if you don’t speed or do anything crazy. Back in time for dinner,” Stef assures you.

“OK, good,” Fang says.

“Just to be safe, you’ll let the van go with the goods,” Carla tells you. “You’ll just hand Minnie the keys. I’ll text you the directions.”

“Got it,” you say. Everyone’s in on this but Jan, but that makes sense. Jan shouldn’t be anywhere near it. If she gets busted for a second time so soon, she could be jailed without bond. The video you have is good, but it doesn’t mean you can just do what you want. There’s a balance between Free Gurls and the authorities. You have to be careful not to screw it up.

After the meeting, you follow Stef to the bar, where she pours herself a small glass of whiskey.

“This is risky,” you tell her, taking the stool beside her. “I won’t do time, but Jan will. If Ellen decides to throw Nadia under the bus, she can have you too. She could kill the club. She might think it’s worth it.”

“She can’t kill it, Adella.” But the look in Stef’s eyes tells you that this has occurred to her as well. “If Jan and I do time, Carla steps up. And we keep going.”

“That’s a lot of sacrifice for some sex toys,” you murmur, keeping your voice down. Carla and Vicky are still around somewhere.

“It’s not just about sex toys, Adella. It’s about propaganda. We remind people that this puritanical bullshit isn’t about god or morality, it’s about controlling women. Without us around to show them different, you’d see more women buy into it. Trust me. It’s just a small town, but our real job isn’t dildoes. It’s to set an example. Show women that they can do what they want. I don’t think you’ve ever had to deal with people controlling you, but you can believe me when I tell you that you don’t want to. And if we can help with that by doing what we do, it’s worth it to me, even if I have to take some lumps for it.”

She finishes her whiskey and sets it down, then puts her hand on your shoulder.

“If you want out, I understand. We aren’t like the clubs on TV that won’t let you leave. But we’d be sorry to see you go,” she says.

“No! I’m not saying that at all,” you assure her. “I didn’t stick it out this long to bail on you. I’m glad you told me that.”

“I’m glad you’re not leaving. I meant it. I like to watch you go,” Stef says with a smirk.

You roll your eyes.

“Because you have a sweet ass,” she explains.

“I get it!” you laugh.

“So does Caroline, we now know, thanks to your brave work last night,” she adds.

“Oh my god. Take that thirst to your wife.”

Stef gets serious. “Adella, you need to be on your game today. And you and Vicky have to look out for each other out there. This isn’t the time to get sloppy.”
