Flee

You see no way to defeat this monster in a real fight. It's stronger, bigger and much faster than you. Your only chance to survive is fleeing. You avoid the first attack of the creature by crouching down. It lands behind you but it simply growls and immediately turns around to jumps at you again. This time you roll to the side and the hit shreds a nearby tree. The claws leave three centimeter deep scratches in the massive log. Now completely certain that it was the right decision to flee, you jump up and run through the forest as fast as you can.

The creature however seems to not want his prey to get away. You hear angry growling and barking as it hunts you. Since it's running on all fours and is much faster than you, you must try to use its speed against it. You twist and weave around the branches, knowing the creature is faster but you can more easily change direction. This is easier said than done. It's very dark in the forest and you can't activate the flashlight of your mobile phone again. You can't count the number of times you bump into a tree or branches whip against your face and chest, but your plan seems to work because the creature bumps into the trees even more often than you. Even though you can't get away, you manage to stay out of its range.

Unfortunately as far as you can tell the monster is not really hurt by bumping into the trees. You on the other hand already have a bloody nose and dozens of scratches and to make it worse you still can't see a thing. It comes as a shock when suddenly there is no ground under your feet and you fall down a hillside. You land painfully in a meter deep hole while the creature, which can see much better in the dark jumps over the hillside and lands perfectly on its feet. For half a second it stares at you then it jumps at you again. This time you can't get up and run away. All you can do is roll to the side so the attack only brushes you.

It hurts when the sharp claws scratch your side and shred your pants but at least it's a small wound thanks to the double layer of jeans and nylon trunks. The missed attack whirls up earth and dust. The creature roars again so loudly and piercingly that it feels like your blood is freezing in your veins. You have only seconds to decide your next move.
