The first spell you've learned is Slumber, which causes every living thing in a small area to fall into a deep sleep. It's not a supernatural sleep - they can be woken up by noise or jostling - but it's sound to start with. You've already used this to escape more than one unfortunate situation (and occasionally to help you fall asleep yourself, though that's not really advised).
