First read-through with Jared

Katie and Jared stood a bit apart from one another, and gave space to Greg. Greg prompted, "Okay, you've just arrived, and Jared opens the scene."

Jared looked at his script, and began to read as Kyle. "Laura. Laura, it's time we talked. Don't you --"

Katie interrupted, as Laura. "What do we have to talk about? Haven't we said all there is to say?"

"You don't know what's in my mind, Laura."

"But I --"

"You don't know why I came back to Missouri."

"No, but --"

"You don't know what I've been through ... and what could make this house, this whole place ... complete again."

"Kyle. I haven't seen you since we were teenagers. I've grown up so much since then."

"But I've thought about you, Laura."

Katie paused. "You've thought about me? What have you thought about me?"

"I've thought about your eyes."

"My ... eyes?"

"I've thought about your voice."

"My ... voice?"

Jared was silent. Then he looked at Greg, breaking character. "I'm sorry, man. Maybe it doesn't matter since it's not my audition, but like, he seems like such a creep."

Greg laughed. "I can see that."

Katie agreed. "It's like he's just been brooding over me for however many years -- how old is my character? Maybe 22? 23? She's not in school, but she doesn't have a family or anything."

Greg had a thought. "What if Kyle knows he's leaving Missouri tomorrow. No, tonight. He needs to talk to her right now because if he doesn't do it now, he'll regret it for the rest of his life."

Jared shrugged. Katie said, "Okay, let's try that."

Greg cued them, "and ... go."
