Chapter 85

What's next?

First night home

Alexa was so captivated by either a conversation with Carol or the shows she watched, that she remarked in surprise when the plane's wheel hit the ground.

"Woah, we already made? God, that was much, much quicker then the flight there." Alexa said happily.

"Yeah. Direct flights are a wonderful thing, aren't they?" Carol responded, and they nodded.

The two deboarded the plane, jetlagged and tired, but ready to get out of the airport. When Alexa started to head towards the arrival area, Carol questioned her.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"Getting a taxi?" Alexa said with a raised eyebrow.

"Got a rental car Lex. Called thinking ahead." Carol said with an amused tone of voice.

"Shut up." Alexa said, rolling her eyes. Thankfully, they did not lose her or Carol's luggage, meaning all that was left was packing that into the car and going. It was a large sized mom van, and Alexa felt just a bit odd sitting in the front seat, secured by only a buckle. Carol buckled her in. Both talked over how odd it felt for her to be up front, and soon enough, Carol had arrived to her apartment.

It was small. It felt small. After Alexa had been living in the (relative) mansion of Carol's home, coming back to her apartment felt like being in a box. Funnily enough, Carol seemed to enjoy it more then Alexa, walking around and checking every out.

"It's cute. Barebones, but very you. When do the movers come?" Carol questioned.

"Um, day after tomorrow." Alexa said, her stomach grumbling. They headed out for dinner, and Alexa took Carol to a favorite spot of hers; she didn't mind the kids menu, just enjoying having someone with her in the last few days at her current place.

Alexa sat over a piece of paper, a cup of coffee beside her. She hadn't change from her skirt or anything yet. Instead, she was working out everything she still needed to do before she left in three days.

Her car situation - sell it or keep it? Getting a doctor's exam - she needed one to stay overseas longer. Paperwork - she had to go file paperwork for her Passport and the like. What else?

She chewed on the edge of her pen, and Carol came from the shower, looking very refreshed.

"You look focused Lex." Carol said with a smile.

"Just figuring stuff out." Alexa responded, with Carol walking up behind her and reading the paper. Right after, she checked the wet and messy Alexa, who was horrified at having an accident without even realizing it.

She slept soundly after a shower and change.

"I'd sell it. Transporting overseas would be a hassle and a half." Carol said, giving Alexa breakfast from the coffee shop she'd run to that morning.

"Right. But I need to be able to drive." Alexa said, munching on her second bagel.

"Sure. For the moment though, I'll drive ya, and you can buy a car later." Carol said, convincing the woman easily. By the end of the convo Alexa had put it up for sale on the web, at a much, much reduced price then she'd gotten it for. After that came getting paperwork done. Carol was more then happy to take her to get it handled, and Alexa found herself at the government office. Hopefully, nothing bad would occur...
