Chapter 38 by aroes aroes

Any patients stop at my desk?

First Patients

I watch as quickly as someone stands in front of me, and I greet them casually, "Welcome to Discrete Medical. Do you have an appointment?", I ask as a smile forms on my face. I see him repress a gasp as he sees my dress, before detailing me his check-in time. Once that is set up, he slides me a card with his own personal information, "If you want to have some fun later, I'd love to show you around sometime tonight, darling."

I quietly pocked the card, putting it in a small empty drawer of the desk. "Why thank you. I'd love that." I replied back, invoking a genuine smile on his face before he sat down. I found myself thinking about the possibilities, happy just a regular check-up for him, fascinating about the possibilities.

It's not long before other patients show up. A mother with a kid with an earache. Another mother with young teens, all of whom can't stop staring. I smile back at them paying more attention to their mother than them, but not making a fuss over the attention.

Eventually, the two young adults that had been sitting on the couch are called in, coming out soon later with smiles on their faces. One of the pair points my way and walks up to my table. I ask, "Greetings, do you have an appointment?" I can see their records pop up quickly, seeing one is 19, and the other 21. I continue to smile their way, keeping polite, enjoying the attention more than I'd expect.

One of them makes a haughty reply, "We'd like to schedule an appointment with you sometime today. Whenever you go on break if you could make the time." The pair snicker, thinking themselves to be hilarious. I smile back, enjoying the company, surprised by the suggestion. Despite it all, my mind starts wandering on the possibility . . .

Just as I pause, surprised, and perhaps, intrigued, by their suggestion, I'm pulled out of my thoughts when one of my co-workers walks by, commenting as they pass, "You may as well head out on your first break. They're not any new arrivals planned for a bit, and things have slowed down considerably. You may not get another chance at it for a bit."

I watch out of the corner of my eye as she sat down not far from me, but is soon is caught up in conversation. Without a patient needing me for a bit and co-working pitching in, I can't be sure of my next chance for such an idea. My attention shifts back to the two young adults, likely freshmen or sophomores from a nearby college, and smile their way.

"Well, looks like I have an opening in my personal schedule. I've love to help out any way I can", I say getting up. I motion them to follow, and I quietly puzzle what type of excitement I want to indulge myself in.

How should I best act on their advances?
