What's next?

First Moves.

The town of Ol’ Karn, known better as the city of the Dragons-kin. The town itself was flanked by mountains leaving only two ways into the town. Most Dragon-kin are said to be born within the town; dragon-born, kobolds, wyverns, and drakes lived at the foot of the mountains. The large mountains separated two farmlands still controlled by me; thus control of this town is vital if the normal races dosen’t want to split their forces without a quick way to reinforce. It wouldn't exactly stop the raiding, however it dose limit some tactics that the enemy could use. Though not much can come of, some of the greatest victories were gained through seamlessly dull actions; and some of the greatest defeats were influenced by great feats. Suffice to say, check your bases first before you go to war.

Night arrived at the outskirts of the town, high above in the rocky cliffs; where Dragons used to live. Night commanded Silence to stay put as Panzig Zhar plopped down next to them. “Status report.” Panzig turned his attention and straightened his posture, “M’Lord, we have recruited a platoon of kobolds, along with a squad of Dragon-born, and one drake for this engagement. We had trouble convincing the majority into helping our push into your rightful lands.” “I could easily erase the problem with magic; though my magic tends to linger, and it discriminates not.” “We could try luring them out of this place and then have you decimate their forces.” “Or we could set up the army in one of the **** points and then use our power to destroy the supply lines…” “Therefore cutting off the forces within the town and starving them out.” Panzig’s eyes gleamed with a hint of joy. “I must suggest a flaw in your plan.” “Aerial supply, freet not, Silence will partake in keeping the skies clean; if any stragglers get past her, I will merely dispose of ‘em.” Panzig, staring down at the kobolds gathering about the base of the mountain; well the scouts, the main body of the forces, were hanging back so as to not give themselves away. “And what about the formation of the land forces? How will we use our drake?” “We’ll position the Dragon-born at the head of the ****, they will be the commander; the kobolds will be formed into a phalanx, they will be led by the Dragon-born; we will place the drake in the back, he will make sure the phalanx will not break.” Panzig turned his focus towards Night, “M’Lord, the enemy will certainly have magic casters that will muck up your plans.” Hearing that, Night clasped his hand together; speaking in a tongue long forgotten. A black mist starts pouring out of Night's orifices; the mist flows down into the valley, lingering about. Being so close to it, Night felt the very malice from this spell. “I assume this will prevent the magic from being a problem, M’Lord.” Night gave a nod as mist continued flowing. Understanding the context, Panzig flew down to the forces still hiding about the base of the mountain; rearranging them into the prearranged formation.

During the night the kobold gather at the prearranged destination and set up. The kobolds were well armed for kobolds; making the whole phalanx idea less likely to fail. The Dragon-born were well equipped, they even had enchanted armor; all of these arms and armaments were subsidized by Panzig due to the lack of Night’s own financial insecurity. Even the drake had some body armor; of course not heavy armor, can’t hinder flight and all, but armor for a fire breathing drake was expensive. The forces assembled at night, standing strong as they waited for any resistance. Despite having gathered at night, the Adventures were not idle; more perceptive members within these groups felt the evil presence surrounding about the area. Adventures scatter about gathering their party members, reading them up for a fight. The Adventurers took time to reconnoiter what they were up to; while others were testing the waters by using their magic, only to find their magic null and void. It didn’t take them long to understand the position that they were in. The older, more experienced, Adventurers took the efforts to make sure the younger, less experienced, Adventurers did not take the open route; understanding that this was a trap that they mustn’t set off. Despite the efforts of the experienced Adventurers, some of the lesser experienced were able to get past and escape through the pass without a problem; seeing this other less experienced Adventurers clamored to take this route. It didn’t take long for the more experienced to strategically give in to their demand letting them suffer the consequence of their rash actions; as a large number of less experienced Adventures walked into the trap only to set it off and get eviscerated by both Frost and Black Flame. What few Adventures, that weren’t hardened veterans, stood gasping in fear and terror as they watched their associates and comrades alike get utterly annihilated. With fewer Adventurers stationed at this village; a veteran group of Adventurers, most respected within the parties, waved a flag of surrender or negotiations.

A party of four walked out of cover where they could be seen; the party consisted of a male Human paladin or fighter, a female Elven magic user possibly cleric, a male Dwarven magic user possibly soccer, and a female Beast-kin (fox girl) ranger possibly rouge. It was a well balanced party, well standard for what Night was used to. Night wanting to present his good side transformed into his monstrous form, a form he most preferred to be in had his body not degraded over the years he sat idle. His body shifted to that of a raven but with the head of a deformed Dragon head. Night and Panzig land before the four Adventurers; the Adventures undeterred by the fearsome sight of the two. The Human stepped up, not speaking around the bush, “We know we have been outplayed. What are your terms?” “Well this is a bit anticlimactic, I was hoping for a dramatic final **** last stand.” Panzig turning his attention towards Night, his face scowled a bit, “M’Lord, prolonging this conflict is rather a profound stupidity.” “Panzig Zhar, should we come to an agreement then veterans will walk; enemies that I have fought and who have an understanding of my abilities, will walk away and teach my enemies how to combat me.” “So, if I am getting this correctly, there will be no negotiation, just slaughter.” Panzig turned his attention towards the adventurers, “No, rather M’Lord is merely anxious about letting the enemy escape with information that is detrimental to him.” “It was the Adventurers that did the most damage; you of all people would know.” “So, what shall our terms be?” Night turned to the Human, staring with killing intent, “I don’t negotiate with oath breakers.” “M’Lord, now is not the time to bring up old history.” “No Panzig, you haven’t been stabbed in the back like I have.” The Elven woman shoved herself past the Human, in a stern voice, “Weren’t you the one who broke the treaty first.” “I was upholding my end of the treaty, I was promised the South: Divided by the Ruzzon River system following the Arrow Strait, to the west the Arkon Mountain Range, to the East The Yukov Plateau and the southern strip of the Yakov Forest. That was the agreement.” the Elven woman, looking enraged, spoke, “It also stated that you would not have an army size larger than 3 regiments.” “My dear, it also stated on my end that I had to keep the peace; no monster would **** your people with any frequency, but to do so required manpower, three regiments were insufficient for the peace you wanted and for the territory I controlled.” “Your forces raided our lands, your forces took our land.” “I was merely destroying the local warlord that endangered the peace.” “You’re monster destroyed the village of Alvion; no they torched and slaughtered them!” Panzig, seeing that this was going nowhere slammed the ground; causing everyone near him to point their attention towards him. “Her-hrpm, M’Lord, what do you demand of these intruders as payment to abate your rage? intruders, what do you demand for your safe passage and what are you willing to pay for said passage?” Night glared at the Adventures as he spoke, “I want her tongue; the elf, I want her as my ****. Also throw in the fox girl for the guarantee of safety.” The Human pushed the Elf behind him, glancing at his party; wordlessly communicating they decide on their course action. “You’ll have the girls, but all of the people in this village gose.” “So long as I get my slaves and you do not cheat me on my side of this transaction.”

Panzig gawked his head towards the Adventurers, “Really, you’ll just give into the demands so easily?” “We understand our hand, sometimes you fold to stay in the game longer.” The fox girl and the Elf walk up to Night and Panzig. “Panzig, take these women to the dungeon; I’ll stay here to monitor the agreement.” Silently Panzig rose off the ground, taking the two women in his talons; he flew off. While Night took off finding a perch to oversee the Adventurers evacuation. The Adventurers didn’t dawdle once word of safe passage was passed along. The groups that crossed the open path confirmed to Night that he had done damage to the Adventurers; about thirty-ish Adventurers walked out of that village. Though Night would have wanted to cripple the Adventurers a bit more, he did obtain the village with little to no bloodshed on his side and with trophies to gratify himself. Night winces in pain, blood rushed out of his mouth, his body warped back into his daint humanoid form. Mumbling to himself, huh so I can only hold that form for around an hour or less; I guess I really have weakened, ehh. As the final Adventures left the village and the Dragon-born advanced into the village. Night addressed his forces, “Attention, all proud warriors of the Overlord’s army. You have claimed victory over the enemy today, be proud of that achievement. You lost no lives, a thing I cannot promise in future campaigns. Commanders of the kobolds, secure the sector and prepare defensives for a possible counter attack.” As Night saw his forces bow in respect and cheered on their victory; he mounted Silence and returned to his castle. A bit bitter but now in a slightly better position than when he started.
