First Day

You tried to be slightly motivated by telling yourself this isn’t as bad as those who were working on a construction site. You did have the intent to learn something useful during your 6 months internship. You put on your best jeans, and a white polo-Tee to work.

You walked to the counter and stammered softly.

“Hi, I’m Alex and I’m here to report for my 6 months internship with Wonderland Photography Studio.”

“Oh, hi! I am Alicia, I’m so glad you’re here. We are very understaffed. This studio only consists of me and Anna. Anna will be here after lunch, she’s our model and admin executive. You’ll just follow instruction for the first 3-4 months and towards the end of your internship, you’ll be put in charge of a small photography project and that would be used for your grading. Understand?”

You nodded.

“Great! Now, let’s see, the schedule is pretty tight today. We will be having a mock up photoshoot in our studio today at 1 PM. I need your help to clean up the studio and changing room. I will be the photographer and your job is to assist me. Anna will be the model and we’ll be doing a test photoshoot for our client to show our concept. This is important because we need to show our client our ideas before we engage the real models. Having in-house model greatly reduces the cost. The mock up photoshoot is for one of our client, she engaged us to shoot her advertisement that is going to be on the newspaper. Of course Anna won’t be on the newspaper, but with Anna, we can practise as many shots as we want.”

You nodded attentively.
