First Day Assembly

"Ok maybe the sundress wasn't the best idea" Jessica said to herself while following the rest of her class to the auditorium. It was already her second period and she hadn't been able to strike up a conversation with anyone. Her guess, she came off as intimidating. Super pretty new girl in a super pretty sundress. The boys were in two camps, the inexperienced and the experienced. All the shy guys who at most held a girls hand of course would find holding a conversation with her, just not knowing what to say. The experienced guys were probably worried she was some stuck up princess type.

The girls on the other hand, one side clearly had jealousy practically imprinted in their eyes. To them not only was she pretty, but she was a show off too. The other side was probably worried she was a "mean girl" who would find it beneath her to hang out with them.

It also didn't help that both her teachers had inadvertently leaked to each class that the new teacher was her father.

All this because she wanted to reinvent herself for her new school. Not realizing how unapproachable her new look was. "I should've worked my way up. Started with something more tame, but not prudish like before" she thought.

"Whatever it's just the first day, there's always tomorrow. Still I hope there will be a chance to get at least someone, if not the most of the school, to look past my unnerving overdressed exterior and see the more welcoming parts of myself" she said, comforting herself in her head.

"Ah hey Jess! Can you help me with this. The I.T. guy is baby sitting the live stream for all the kids missing the first day, so it's been put on me to set up and run the projector" her father asked her the moment her class walked in the door.

Cringing a little as everyone in her class and the people sitting nearby turned to her. She guessed news of her relation to the new teacher wasn't escaping the entire school.

"Sure, dad" she said ripping the band aid off.

"That's my girl! Hope you don't mind me plucking your student for a minute Mrs. Maddow" the older man said to Jessica's second period teacher.

"No problem at all Mr. Lutz" the woman said, leading the rest of her class to their assigned section.

Jessica got to work helping her dad set up. During which a new fear connected to her dress popped up as she caught glimpses of the people sitting in the front row looking up at her. Making her worry they might be able to catch a peek up the yellow dress and see her embarrassing choice of underwear. "I should've worn something longer" she said to herself as she felt the stares of many on her toned legs.

"And that concludes today's assembly. Please refer to the rulebook or the school website to re-watch this presentation if you need to go over it all again. If you have any questions ask any of the educational faculty. You may leave at the sound of the bell to go to your next class, have a good day" Mr. Percival the almost retired principal said, ending his very long presentation.

Making Jessica happy as she had been sat on stage next to her father in case he needed more help with the projector. Spending the whole presentation clamping her legs together to make sure no one got a view, as she faced almost the entirety of her new school.

"Gosh dang it" Jessica's father said pressing a button on a remote.

"What's the problem?" She asked.

"The projector screen isn't rolling up" he said.

"Maybe it's suck?" she suggested.

"Maybe. Can you try to pull it loose while I pack up the laptop?" he asked.

"Sure" the blonde girl said.

"Be careful sweetie, I hear that it's pulled people off their feet before. So let go when you feel it starting to go up" her father said.

"Ok dad" Jessica said.

The man continued his work as she walked over to the middle of the screen. First she tried a quick tug at the line in the middle. Achieving nothing. Then she did a firm tug. Still nothing. Escalating she grabbed the bottom bar with both hands and used her strength to pull down. Jarring something loose the screen started rising, very slowly. Happy Jessica let go and went to back away, but the moment she stopped applying pressure the screen stopped moving. So she did the same again and the screen started moving again. However the moment she tried to back away it stopped moving again.

Sighing to herself she continued to put pressure on the screen allowing it to slowly pull up. As it kept getting higher she would readjust her stance. Eventually having to pull on the line as it went up because the bar had went up too high.

What she didn't notice while this was happening was that the hook at the bottom of the line, used to pull down the screen manually with a long stick with a matching hook, had caught the bottom hem of her dress. Hooking into the fabric. So as the screen continued to rise, so did the bottom of her dress.
