First Day. First meetings.

Queen Karleen had spoken with Lady Giselle and they agreed that Lady Giselle's function as the first minister kept her busy so they decided to get Karleen a new personal aide. Today Karleen had a pretty full day and it started with appointing a new ambassador to Germite to replace Karleen now she was Queen. Sitting in her sister's former office Lady Athena knocked on the door and entered with Lady Lelanie who was to be the next ambassador to Germite. "Good morning your Majesty I have the honour of introducing Lady Lelanie" Lelanie bowed "Good morning your Majesty thank you for appointing me to the court of Germite." Karleen looked at both women signalling them to sit" It was a pleasure, Ambassador and you will like it in Germite but a word of warning they are set in their ways so you have to tread carefully." Lelanie took in the information that flowed from Karleen and found it to be very educational. Then the meeting was over and it was time for the next meeting.

Lady Helen came in and sat with Karleen after pleasantries had been exchanged."Lady Helen, I have given great thought to the subject of an heir to the Freeconian throne. I know that traditionally and historically an heir has to be a female and I could not find anywhere in our laws that this was how it should be. The conundrum is if I was to provide two heirs one male and one female who would ascend to the throne, who would be in line to the throne?" Lady Helen cleared her throat "As you clearly state there is no line of succession enshrined in our laws only in tradition and historical precedent. In other realms, it is normally the first-born male who succeeds to the throne. If we are to go down the line your sister started then realistically Freeconia could have a King unless a new law is created. The law would ensure that only female offspring can be the ruler of Freeconia and the males would still bear the title prince but have no right to the throne. In the event, a female heir was not heir then the council would run Freeconia until the male sibling provided a female heir."

Karleen thought about this and said she would get back to Lady Helen on the matter and her decision. The meeting was at an end Karleen headed to her Chasin's rooms and after a greeting, they sat and chatted. They discussed the fun they had when they were children and how they both missed their older sister. Karleen asked what life was like being married to King Frederick and Chasin smiled saying it was wonderful and winked saying her wrists did not hurt as much at night. Karleen grinned understanding what her sister was hinting at then carried on asking about other matters including succession in Galtion after an hour Karleen excused herself and headed back to her chambers. There she found Jilana entertaining a very excited Shebe who was chasing a small ball of wool. When Shebe saw Karleen she stopped and playfully went into a stalking stance before hurling herself at Karleen who caught her and hugged her before placing her back on the floor.

After a quick play session with Shebe, Karleen told Jilana to take her for a walk in the garden while she finished up some work and then changed into less formal clothes. She headed down to the stables with her escort in tow which she was still getting used to this, yes she had a bodyguard in Germite but here now as Queen, she was surrounded by guards. She arrived at the stables and found Ghanos in his stable looking forlorn and as she approached she thought she saw a tear sliding down his face. She held out her hand and he backed off a little then extended his snout and nuzzled Karleens hand as if sensing this person was related to Arerto. "Ghanos my friend you served my sister well for the short time you were together and I hope that you can serve me in the same way." She knelt down to the barrel outside the stall and retrieved an apple and held it out for Ghanos to munch down on after he had demolished the apple he neighed filling the stable with noise. "Thank you Ghanos," Karleen said as she left the stable and headed back to the palace for her afternoon meetings.
