First Class

Xiao Mei looked over the top of her first class seat. Scrunched up her nose.

“Nadia? You can’t afford first class… What are you doing here?” She said.

Xiao Mei had her signature twin tails. She didn’t recognise Nadia at first because her hair was ginger.

“I’m actually coming to Shanghai to talk to you..” Nadia said.

“So you are stalking me like your ex husband did to you? Not gonna try and shoot me too?” Xiao Mei made a gesture of her finger across her neck.

“What? No. Don’t be silly,” Nadia said, “You were being weird so I thought maybe I could hang out with you in Shanghai?” Nadia said.

“Weird? I’m never weird…”

“Well… I was going to be bored anyway… So thank god you are coming,” Xiao Mei sighed a relief, “But that doesn’t answer my question… How the fuck can you afford this? You are poor…”

Nadia made the face.

“Katherine is funding my trip…” Nadia said.

Xiao Mei stood up in fighting stance, “Katherine? That snake in a pregnant woman’s body! So you are here to kill me! I bet that racist asshole is here too!”

“No! No!” Nadia waved her hands up.

Peripheral vision. They both turned to see a newspaper and hat. An eye peering over. One covered with an eyepatch.

“That’s him!” Xiao Mei pointed over and over. Looking back at Nadia and Masson.

He folded his newspaper.

“Well… My exotic friend… I couldn’t resist a trip to the land of “made in china” labels and stinky tofu,” he said.

“Seee! It’s the motherfucker!” Xiao Mei said, “come to get me, huh? Imma take that other eye out,” she lifted up a butter knife for her bread.

Detective Masson winked, “Don’t worry I believe in an eye for an eye… But yours is so narrow like a slit… I’m surprised you can see at all—“

“Shut up!” Nadia and Xiao Mei shouted in sync.
