It seemed to be the one last stimulus, to keep me sane, to keep me awake. To not drift into what they had envisioned, to my own eternal doom.

They have succeeded, in what they wanted, they have failed, in what they wanted. For them, I am lost, sealed, now unrecalled even by me. But I have lasted, survived, that my soul never perished, that I zeal did not bend. I shall remain, to reborn anew, it is still me, but with my lost burdens shed. I wish for it or not, it doesn't matter, I have either case.
