“It is very nice to meet you Ms. Kyle.” You try to remain calm and collective, though you're afraid you might have put too much emphasis on the “very” when you spoke. “But forgive me, I thought Dr. Rorbeck said your name was 'Novak.' A 'Mary Novak?'”

The emerald-eyed goddess eyes briefly examines you with a most piercing look. “You're right, I'm not Mary Novak.” Her voice is direct yet suggestive. “I'm here to steal Novak's blind date.”

“Excuse me?” You're quite sure you must have heard this gorgeous stranger wrong. “You're here to steal a date, from her?”

“More accurately, I'm here to steal you from her.” Ms. Kyle states without shame or concern.

“Is this some joke?” You look down the hallway, thinking your friend Héctor Rodríguez from the Coronary Care Unit is playing some sort of strange trick on you.

“Not at all.” The buxom beauty takes a step closer to you. The faint fragrance of her perfume is bewitching and rivets your full attention on Ms. Kyle. “I'm an independent insurance appraiser with an expertise in fine art and valuables hired by a private interest from Gotham City. My client wants the Aleister Crowley Necklace from the Athenaeum appraised and since you're the President of the Board of Trustees, I thought it would be appropriate for us to meet.”

“Why didn't you just call the Athenaeum?” You're now starting to become more skeptical about this raven-hair beauty, yet you cannot help notice how lushes her full red lips are when she speaks.“We frequently allow qualified professionals access to the collections.”

“My client wants things to be kept discreet.” She answers.

“This is highly irregular.” Is your response.

“Maybe so.” The shapely Gothamite says with a slight purr that goes along with a devastating sly smile. “But business is business. Can I at least come in and try to persuade you?”
