Chapter 6 by Lilyflier Lilyflier

What did Thomas do next?

First, some philanthropy.

After calling his think tank and explaining that he wanted world peace, better education and everyone's basic necessities met, he was pleasantly surprised to find that they had predicted he would request things of that sort and were already taking care of it.

And sure enough when he looked at the news he saw the reports for once remarking on how little suffering was taking place around the world compared to normal.

"I could get used to this." He remarked with a smile. Feeling elated that at last he could do more than vote on one corrupt politician as opposed to another.

Flipping through other channels, some of the changes to the world around him came as more than a minor surprise.

"Almost immediately after complete world peace is achieved for the first time in a dozen centuries or more, education systems began changing in accordance with almost every educational specialist completely reforming their view on what an ideal education system would look like. Working conditions around the would are improving and companies are beginning to switch from human labor to automated machinery and artificial intelligence for nearly every imaginable task. Surprisingly almost all the profits are now going to the working class as CEOs of virtually every major company are apparently forming their own kind of UBI. We've got renowned socioeconomist David Smith here to explain exactly what's going on- tell us Smith, has anything like this ever occurred before?"

"Absolutely not. I've never seen something like this in my life and I never would have predicted that it would occur."

"In your latest book, 'The Inevitable Order' you predict economic devastation stretching long into the future as overall profits fall for capitalist nations around the world and a new order emerges from this conflict. So tell us, is this the product of that change taking place?"

"Not in the slightest, this is...nothing like what I expected. Throughout history we see these gradual rises and decays in various international powers with conflicts in-between, never have we had such a rapid change. And I still don't know what caused it."

Thomas turned the television off and stared at the dark screen for a moment, shocked at how quickly things had changed and were changing.

What's next?
