Finding a new home

Now that you've established a cover job as a journalist, you decide that you'll need a base of operations. You shouldn't be living at home if you're going to be using the power of the magic rings. Your family would notice, and while you could use mind control on them, you don't want to.

Picking up a copy of today's paper as you exit the lobby of the New York Tribune, you start looking at house listings. Flipping through property ads, you find a huge mansion in an affluent neighborhood. 14 bedrooms, underground pool, and tennis court. You call the number of the real estate agent on the ad, Ron Sturgis, and set up an appointment in an hour.

It's only an hour's drive outside of town, but since there were many pictures of the mansion in the ad, you can teleport to it using one of your magic rings. When you arrive, Ron is already waiting inside the mansion. He's pleased to see you, telling you that he has only shown the place to 1 other prospect since the property has been on the market. Of course, he seems doubtful that a young man like you would have the money to buy the house and you casually assure him that money was not an issue as he gives you the tour.

The mansion is lavish and fully furnished. You think it's perfect, for now at least. Using the mind control ring, you make Ron tell you everything about the owner. According to him, it's 1 of many properties owned by a middle-aged heiress who had recently passed away from illness. She had left everything to her 20 year old daughter, Olivia Pinke, who decided to liquidate some of the estates now in her name. That's all you need to know.

Using mind control, you make Ron think that you have made an offer way above the asking price, but with 1 condition: you want the owner to talk you through the history of the mansion in person before you close.

Ron takes the instructions from you and leaves, promising to schedule a meeting with the owner tomorrow.
