Find your mum

You spotted your mom in the audience, seated near the back, her posture straight and composed as usual. She was dressed in her typical business attire—a crisp blazer, neatly pressed pants, and a no-nonsense expression. You figured she must’ve come for work, attending the show for professional reasons. You hesitated for a moment, wondering if you should even approach her. But something inside urged you forward, and before you knew it, you were tapping her on the shoulder.

“Hi, Mum!” you greeted her with a smile, trying to sound casual, though your heart was racing.

She turned her head slowly, her eyes meeting yours. “Oh, hi Alex. You’re here too?” Her voice was polite but distant, as if she hadn’t even registered your presence until now.

You blinked in surprise. She didn’t notice me at all, you thought, feeling a mix of relief and nervousness.

“Yeah, I’m part of the organizing committee for this event,” you explained, hoping it would bridge the gap between the tension you felt.

“I didn’t know,” she replied curtly, her expression unchanged. There was a faint trace of displeasure, though she didn’t make a scene. It seemed she was still stewing over what she had seen earlier.
