Find a comfy cave

It will be impractical for you to live in the courtyard when the castle is open to visitors. For the week Alisa is away you scout out the mountain. You find a nice cave within a short flight of the castle and move your hoard into it. By the end of the week, you see a white cartridge approaching the castle.

You fly down to the courtyard to await the return of the Princess. When she enters the courtyard you see her with a smile on her face and holding hands with her new husband the now Prince David. Her baby bump is only just visible. "Oh, Gorwen, It's great to be home. I see you have moved your treasure. Are you not going to be living with us?" Alisa asked the joy in her voice changing to confusion as she saw the lack of a hoard.

"Not quite, Alisa, I have found a cave near buy which allows me to free up your courtyard for all the human activity you told me about. All the market days, knighting ceremonies and public executions that your father told you about that have to take place in the Courtyard. Not to mention your guests and courtiers will need to move through it to get to the great hall along with servants and guards to man the keep. These things mean nothing to me but I know enough that I would be in the way living here with a hoard of gold. So I moved it but still intend to visit most days and help with the raising of my child." You explain.

"Alisa and I have discussed this, we came up with two roles for you. We wish to make you a lord. You will help govern our land. In your humanoid form, you can attend court once a month and as both a dragon and human you can watch over one of our towns and surrounding villages/farmland. They will pay you with a tribute of food as declared by Alisa and I this will reduce your need to hunt. From our understanding, dragons find it difficult to determine and understand what animals are fair game and which belong to humans, especially deer and other game in hunting forests. This food tribute is our solution to having a dragon living on our land."David explained.

"I find this role acceptable, it will be weird for me to govern humans but I helped Alisa learn the rules she had to know to run a kingdom when she was growing up. I think I can cope, it will be a fun challenge. I, of course, will need help and you will have to convince the people to listen to me in my dragon form but this will give me many excuses to visit my mate. I hope you don't mind me calling Alisa that in private, David?" You reply.

"I have no problems with it as long as it stays in private. You allowed me to change after chance to win the one I love even after you had decided to take her for yourself. You could have told me 'no' a week ago. Or said she was already taken but you gave me one last chance and for that I am grateful." David replied.

"Your second role will be as out executioner. The punishment of death is an unfortunate but powerful tool in the enforcement of our laws."Alisa explained.

(author's note: I do not support this and in our modern society where law enforcement is easier to handle there is no place for execution for any crime but it fits the setting of the story in a time before large stretches of land could be dedicated to a prison system although small prisons could be built and there was no set law enforcement but guards who had other duties such as defence of the castle or town)

"How will I execute them?" You ask.

"By eating them If you wish although we ask you to contain your pleasure in public executions. However, feel free to enjoy yourself for non-public executions. If you do not wish to eat them you can use your claws to kill them so long as it is quick and clean." Alisa elaborated.

"I accept this role too." You reply.
