What's next?
Figure out what it can do
Jack sat at his desk, staring at the device, his mind buzzing with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. The instruction manual was cryptic, more of a technical outline than a user-friendly guide. It was filled with complex diagrams and jargon he vaguely recognized from his audio engineering background—waveform manipulations, frequency modulations, and neural response algorithms. But there was enough there to get started. He could work with this.
He plugged the device into his computer and watched as the software booted up, its interface sleek but complicated. A window popped open, displaying an audio timeline, much like the editing software he was used to. But beneath the surface, this was different. He clicked on a button labeled "Insert Subliminal Layer" and was immediately greeted with a range of preset options: “Mood,” “Focus,” “Desire,” “Confidence.” Each option had sliders to adjust intensity, duration, and even the specific demographic target.
Jack leaned back in his chair, a half-amused smirk crossing his face. It was all described so simply, almost mechanical—an emotion engine. But the power it hinted at was anything but simple.
He decided to start small. Pulling up a podcast episode from the urban legends series he was working on, he isolated a short clip—an innocuous two-minute segment about a local ghost story. He selected “Mood: Suspense” and dialed the intensity to the lowest setting. The manual had indicated that too much, too fast could cause headaches or disorientation in listeners. Jack wasn’t looking to melt anyone’s brain—yet.
He clicked *Apply*. The progress bar inched forward, the software embedding the subliminal cues beneath the dialogue, hidden beneath the range of conscious perception. When it finished, it produced an innocuous audio file, “Audio 1”.
"Alright," he muttered to himself, leaning in closer to his speakers. "Let’s see if this thing really works."
He played the segment back. At first, it sounded no different than before—the usual background music and sound effects, the narrator’s voice weaving through the story. But as he listened, something shifted. It was subtle, a tension crawling into his chest. The familiar words of the podcast began to feel…heavier, more loaded. Jack’s eyes darted to the time counter. He wasn’t even halfway through, but his pulse had quickened, his shoulders tensed. The feeling was unmistakable. He was *uneasy*.
When the clip ended, Jack sat in silence, staring at his screen. His heart was still racing. It worked. Holy hell, it worked.
But that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Over the next few days, Jack buried himself in the study of the equipment, combing through the manual, running test after test. He experimented with the different settings—tweaking the layers of influence, adjusting frequencies, layering messages on top of each other. The results were always subtle, but unmistakable. A calm narrative became eerily hypnotic with just the right combination of “Focus” and “Trust.” Advertisements felt more persuasive with a slight nudge toward “Desire.” And with enough intensity, even the most banal content carried an edge of emotional urgency.
The effects weren’t drastic, but that’s what made them so effective. No one would notice. That was the point. It wasn’t about hitting someone over the head with an idea; it was about steering them, gently, almost imperceptibly, in the direction you wanted.
Jack’s tests grew bolder. He used the technology on unsuspecting colleagues, embedding tiny commands into pre-production podcast snippets or casual voice messages. He inserted a “Confidence” boost into a business pitch. He tweaked the “Desire” slider on a voice message to a friend, just to see if they’d text him back about a sudden craving to hang out. They did.
Each success only made Jack more obsessive, more certain of what he could achieve with this device.
The power was addictive.
Jack wasn’t content with small-time pranks. This was a tool for something far greater. He began thinking bigger—women, media, influence. This could change everything. It was only a matter of time before he figured out how to truly maximize its potential.
For now, though, Jack grinned as he leaned back in his chair, the weight of his discovery sinking in. He had only just scratched the surface of what this device could do—and, besides the mysterious seller, he seemed to be the only one who knew it existed. "Still, why waste time?", he thought, and went back to work.
Over the next days, Jack’s obsession with the device deepened as he uncovered more layers of control. Through his experimentation, he stumbled across something buried deep in the software’s options—something the manual barely mentioned. A sub-menu within the "Subliminal Layer" section, only accessible with a specific keyboard shortcut, allowed for custom input. Instead of just vague emotional presets like “Confidence” or “Trust,” Jack realized he could potentially embed specific commands—concepts, ideas, and even more granular suggestions into the subliminal track. His mind raced with possibilities, but one stood out above the rest.
What's next?
Subliminal Adjustments
Personality calibration for ideal behavior
This story revolves around Jack Dover, an ambitious man who stumbles upon a subliminal messaging device, which allows him to subtly influence the minds of those who listen to its output. What starts as a well-intentioned experiment to "help" his best friend, Rachel, soon spirals into a manipulative scheme targeting other women around him. Work in progress. We're starting slow, but I promise our descent into depravity will go deep. :)
