Chapter 27 by Caesar25 Caesar25

What's next?

Fight them! (Lvl 20)

Lana (igniting her lightsaber): Alright, time to deal with these fools! Show them, that nobody can threaten a Jedi!

Aayla: Lana, no! This is a bad idea...! Oh, my goodness, too late...!

HK69: Finally some action master! I'll show you my full potential and eliminate every single one of these organics in no time!

HK starts shooting down some Tuskens, who didn't expect any resistance. You had the element of surprise, especially as your lightsabers can deflect their laser bolts. They didn't see that coming! As confusion is spreading like wildfire in their ranks, you cut down one after an other. Aayla stays with HK and provides defense for him, while he is shooting down the snipers on the rocks above.

HK69: Twi'lek, if a single shot touches me, I will not guarantee you won't get one into your back from my rifle.

Aayla: I appreciate the warning, it truly is wonderful working with you!

HK69: I don't enjoy the situation any more than you do, I can ensure you! Having such a species responsible for my protection is most concerning indeed!

Aayla: No offence, but I hope this will be over soon and we are never going to see each other again!

HK69: The feeling is mutual!

The Tuskens desperately try to fight back, when they realize their rifles are useless against you, they grab their gaffi sticks, they traditional melee weapons of the sand people. They try to fight you is close quarters combat, but their sticks are too cut in half by your lightsaber. They are numerous though, so you thin their lines with a blaster in your free hand and some rockets from your wristband. They still surround you, so you decimate them with a flamethrower, which move utterly crushes their morale and resolve. As you seem to be unstoppable they are pushed back and killed to the last man. Those who tried to flee into the sand dunes were sniped down by HK. As you look around and see all the dead sand people, you sense some movement behind a nearby rock. You lift the rock with the ****, a young Tusken was cowering behind it. He is shouting something as he is cornered.

Lana: What is he saying HK?

HK69: Nothing important, just trying not to die silently!

Lana: Translate his words! The others weren't saying anything before they were killed, even the ones who were running!

HK69: Oh master, when they are close to their deaths, they say all sorts of things! Those words are not to be believed!

Lana: Do it HK!

HK69: Fine, here's what that little coward was saying. He had been in the camp when it was devastated by a man who had a similar weapon as you and the Twi'lek have. He says he could tell you what happened if we spare him.

Aayla: He could be useful, don't kill him!

HK69: Master, surely you see the merit in my words and realize, that spearing him will get us no further than we are now! The only way is to end him right here and now to finish what we have already started here!

Lana: If he speaks the truth... He might help us with the investigation... Alright, tell him to start talking and he is coming with us!

HK69: Ah, this foolish Jedi mentality is going to be the end of me one day. Tusken language!

He tells you all he knows. He was coming back from the desert with some freshly stolen gallons of water, when he saw some blue lights flashing in the camp. He dropped the gallons and ran to see what was going on. He saw a man around 20 with a blue staff cutting his clan down one by one without mercy. When he saw how the strongest warriors of the camp were easily defeated by him, he ran away into the desert to hide. He returned the next day and saw the devastation almost the way as you can see today. He went on to find an other tribe and told them all of what has happened here. Since that day, they come here every week and set some fire in hopes of keeping that evil being away from the camp. According to them, it must have come here due to the camp inhabitants breaking traditions and planning to go live peacefully with the local farmers instead of raiding them.

Aayla: How did they plan to live in peace with them? Or why did they kidnap Shmi if they wanted peace?

The Tusken survivor tells you his clan was approached by a hooded man, who offered to guarantee the well being of the clan by negotiating a truce between the farmers and the Tuskens. He said if they kidnap this woman and **** her every day her screams of pain will keep the evil spirits away and the negotiations will go fast and smoothly. The hooded man hasn't returned for weeks, but the Tuskens didn't give up hope of a peaceful life and kept torturing Shmi to do all they can for the success of the man's negotiations with the farmers. Until that blue stuffed evil being appeared from Shmi's tent and murdered everybody.

Lana: By the ****, that's some story he told us...

Aayla: We should investigate the camp ourselves before we jump to any conclusions! He might be trying to cheat his way out of this and tell us a false story to save his life.

HK69: For this singular moment, I agree with the Twi'lek. We cannot trust this one!

You make your way to the deserted camp and take the Tusken youngster with you. Aayla starts investigating the place right away.

Aayla (checking the remains of the tents): These were cup open with a lightsaber, no doubt... The sides of the holes here were molten in a straight formation, no blaster or other weapon may leave a similar mark.

Lana: Indeed!

Aayla (examining the remains of the dead Tuskens): The marks on the dead also indicate they were cut down with a lightsaber...

Lana: They are similar to the ones I made when I was fighting them, it is true.

Aayla (finding a dead Tusken child): Oh my...! There are even children here! Whoever did this, didn't spare anybody! They were cut down like animals!

Lana: How terrible...! How could anybody do such a thing!

Aayla: So it was Anakin no doubt... He discovered his mother's **** and avenged her... He must have suffered a lot from that sight... Maybe even more while slaughtering all these sand people...

Lana: I suggest we should be careful with Anakin in the future... What do you think, should we report this to the council once we get back to Coruscant...?

Aayla: I don't know Lana... Maybe it's best if we don't mention this until we see any signs of Anakin's dark deeds again... We can't know for sure if he has left his past behind or if he is still haunted by this, but...

Lana: We too have done some nasty things in our past we don't want anybody to know about... Just like this situation of slaughtering a clan of Tuskens ourselves...!

Aayla: Alright, we won't tell about this to anybody, but keep an eye on Anakin. Maybe I'll warn Ahsoka to be careful with him, he better not form an attachment with anybody like he had with his mother, or a similar thing might happen again... There is one more thing that is very disturbing here... Who was that hooded man who wanted Shmi tortured? And for what reason?

Lana: We should tell the council about this, but leave Anakin's reaction out of our report.

Aayla: Agreed, we should censor this mission a bit.

You walk back to your speeders, but when you get there, you see a bunch of Tuskens, even more than you were fighting a hour ago, approaching. The one you captured keeps crying out to them to help him. When you aren't paying attention, HK shoots him in the head.

Lana: HK, why did you do that?!

HK69: We better not leave any witnesses to what we have just done here... We will have better chances against them if they won't know what to expect in a fight!

Aayla: I still don't think we should attack them head on! They badly outnumber us! This would be a lot more tougher fight than the last one!

Lana: Agreed, let's try to talk our way out of this, there is no need to kill anybody this time!

HK69: Of course there is a need for that! We were just getting started here! You don't imagine they will let us go after we have just killed a lot of their brothers, do you, master?

Lana: They haven't started shooting at us yet, maybe they don't want to fight either... Let's see what they are after.

The band of sand peoples gather around you. They all keep their rifles pointed at you three, but nobody does anything. You are all ready to fight, should it come to that, but you won't be the one making the first step towards ****. The chief comes forward and starts talking. He explains they aren't here to fight you. They aren't angry about the deaths of the Tuskens here, just the opposite! They are from a rival clan and are more than happy that you have rid them of these sand people. However, as they came here to conquer their lands, now the soil under your feet belongs to them. They will let you walk away, but only if HK gives his rifle to them as a token of good faith.

HK69: Those unspeakable organic vile schutta suns of a Hutt! They won't be keeping my rifle, the mere fact they could touch it sends an electromagnetic shock wave through my circuits and almost shots down my processor!

Lana: Take it easy HK, we will buy you a new rifle!

HK69: That isn't just any rifle! That is my most precious friend who has always been by my side since I was assembled! I would never part with it!

Lana: Can't we just offer them some credits instead?

Aayla: They don't have any use for credits, their lifestyle is way different than ours.

HK69: Master, enough is enough! This insult to take my rifle shouldn't go unpunished! I beg you, allow me to add a few more holes to these imbecillis!

Aayla: I wouldn't advise fighting them, they still hugely outnumber us! We came out on top the last time, but this time it might be different!
