Chapter 7
by GreenBean
How does James' night go?
Ferverish invention
James' mind reeled and his body felt numb when he got home. His world had turned upside down. A beast that big was downright ridiculous. And yet he had not only seen it be taken down, he had participated even.
Catherine was a hunter too. This... made too much sense unfortunately and James felt foolish for not realizing it earlier. Her agility, her father's profession, how she never stayed over during a hunt...
He wasn't sure how he felt about that.
Instead, he turned his racing mind to something productive. Invention.
He looked at the design he had in mind, and tossed it. It was far too fragile and heavy for the hunt. He understood now why the weapons needed constant maintenance and so many other complaints.
His mind throbbed. He felt heat in his temples. A pressure behind his eyes. And then a spark. He had an idea. The rapid transition from ranged to melee. How poor of aim one gets from using their left hand. A vague childhood memory of helping his father fix a Cainhurst antique.
A mad smile painted his face. It didn't need to be complicated, it just needed to be clever. He pulled out an old rifle and pulled out a saw. His work had begun.
What does morning yield?
