Chapter 22 by OathkeeperPath OathkeeperPath

What's next?

Felicia date

Felicia (rough draft v1)

The rest of the week passed without much fanfare for Josh. The patrol routine became more comfortable, the streets a familiar terrain now. There were no significant changes to his body or powers, and life began to settle into a new normal.

The most exciting development was his first paycheck as a hero. It was a tangible reminder of his new responsibilities and accomplishments, the pay rate even for a new hero matched what he was making at his last job.

As Saturday approached, the anticipation for his date with Felicia grew. AISYS was supportive and even helpful, suggesting the sundress outfit that Josh had found himself surprisingly comfortable in, AISYS finally got her wish on that front.

The date began with ice cream at a popular parlor, where Josh and Felicia shared laughs and small talk. Felicia's sparkling eyes and genuine interest in him made the initial nerves quickly melt away.

With cones in hand, they strolled through the park, enjoying the warmth of the day and the pleasant buzz of people around them.

"So, Ariea," Felicia began, her voice tinged with curiosity, "you mentioned something about your appearance being complicated. Care to explain?"

Josh looked at her, glad she waited for them to be enjoying each other before asking. Taking a deep breath, he began, "Well, I'm not exactly trans. I'm still very much a guy, but certain...circumstances have led me to appear this way. I'm learning to navigate it, and I want you to know that I'm still me on the inside."

He kept the explanation vague, careful not to reveal any secrets. Felicia listened intently, her eyes softening as she processed his words.

"That must be quite a journey for you," she said finally. "But hey, whatever you consider yourself, I'm here for it. And I think you look amazing in that sundress, by the way."

Josh blushed, feeling a warmth spread through him. He could tell she still thought he were Trans. Processing it he worked though his thoughts 'But at this point while she was technically wrong, did it really matter if she was going to treat you right? You felt butterflies in your stomach when around her and her earnest answer to be OK with what ever as long as it was you made your heart melt.'

They continued their walk, the conversation flowing effortlessly as they delved into shared interests, hopes, and dreams. The connection between them deepened, and it became clear that there was something special forming between them.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, they found themselves at a quiet bench, where they sat and simply enjoyed each other's company.

"I'm really glad we did this," Felicia said, her hand finding Josh's. "I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes."

"Me too," Josh replied, squeezing her hand. "Me too."
