Feast

"So what now?" Amanda interrupts their little spat.

Grateful to change the subject Nicole immediately responds "We share the spoils!"

"How are we doing that?"

"The kill should be good now. The faster we eat the better. Max should have infected it during the hunt. "

"I'm not eating that raw!" says Jenny.

Nicole ignores her and continues. "Max, please split it!"

"Me?"

"Yeah, just grab a chunk and rip it"

"I don't know about that..."

"You want me to do it?"

"Sure..."

"Fine! It's a good idea for you to do it at the hunt." Nicole says as she grabs a leg and rips it off. You duck as blood splatters everywhere. "Here you go", she offers the first part to Jenny but she refuses, taking a few steps back.

"I'm good!"

"You sure?"

"Yeah!"

"It's not a good look for the Prime's mate to refuse to eat with everyone."

"I'm not eating that raw..."

"You can refuse now, but you'll need to do it when we hunt with the pack. Unless you want Max's rank to drop."

"Hey! He has nothing to do with my decision."

"You might think that, but the pack has a hierarchy that needs to be respected. We can joke all we want in private but when stuff gets serious, people are expected to respect it."

"You're making stuff up!"

"I'm not. Edward especially likes to keep the old rules, so you better up your game, or Max will suffer."

"You..."

"Just give it to me!" Leyla says as she grabs the chunk and bites it. "It's not that bad..." She says as she takes another bite.

"Umm... you better not do that again... it's a direct challenge for her place." Nicole says as she points towards Jenny.

"Well, she didn't want it..."

"Even if she didn't want it, it's her cut. By eating it, you proclaimed to everyone that you're Max's first."

"Give it back!" Jenny snaps and takes it back, taking a first bite.

"Such a drama queen..." whispers Leyla.

You look confused at what just happened. "So how is it?" you ask Jenny.

"Not good!"

"You don't have to eat it..." You pity her as she struggles to get it down in her stomach.

"Ugh..."

Nicole rips the other legs and gives them to Leyla and Amanda before she grabs a piece for herself.

"You can let your subordinates divide it but it's better to do it yourself in the beginning." she says between bites. It seems that just Jenny has problems eating."It creates a relationship between you and the people following you during the hunt." she continues.

"Subordinates?"

"Everyone will split and follow who they want during the hunt, but there is only so much everyone can get. With time you will build a relationship with those who follow, as a provider, and they'll become your subordinates in the eyes of the pack. People will take your side if any arguments appear since they trust you. So it's important that they see you as the guy that they have to please."

"So many complicated things..."

"You will learn with time. Next time maybe play a bit more with it, after all, the more you bite the better the spread."

"But wouldn't that prove incompetence?"

"It's all for show... No one expects a deer to escape a werewolf. Even a werewolf kid can kill one."

"Do I have to eat with everyone?"

"If you want... but you don't need to. After all the hunt is to help the pack, not for the Primes."

"Ok, I get it. So what are we doing with what's left"

"That's easy! We leave this here and someone will come and clean it up tomorrow." Nicole says as she shows you a small object.
