Father
Returning back to their booth, Phoebe and Caleb quickly noticed that it was empty with Lexi still gone to get some more drinks whilst Tommy and Isabel having disappeared and not wanting to think about what her cousin and his girlfriend were up to, Phoebe settled into the booth with Caleb sitting opposite her.
"Looks like we're all alone," Caleb commented.
"Guess we are," Phoebe said with a small smile.
"So," Caleb said in a low tone. "That kiss on the beach. Was that a one-time thing, or are you planning on making a habit of it?"
"Depends. You planning on earning a repeat performance?" Phoebe asked.
"Thought I already did." Caleb grinned. "Unless you’re the type who needs convincing."
"Oh, I’m convinced." Phoebe said as she leaned in close. "Just wondering if you can keep up."
"Try me." Caleb said, however instead of pulling closer, he leaned slightly back as he noticed Lexi at the bar from the corner of his eye, talking and laughing at something a teenager that was all too familiar said.
"Caleb?" Phoebe said in confusion as Caleb abruptly got from his seat and quickly made his way across the bar.
Phoebe quickly followed realising that Caleb was heading towards Lexi and the man he was talking to and before she could process what happened, Caleb grabbed the man and shoved him away from Lexi which caused Lexi to look over at Caleb in surprise.
"The fuck do you think you're doing, Victor?" Caleb snarled.
"Whoa, easy, Caleb." Victor said, taking a step back and raising his hands in a mock surrender.
"You know him?" Lexi said, glancing between them both.
"Yeah. Victor McCraven. Xander's kid." Caleb revealed before addressing Victor. "What, Daddy sent you to do his dirty work now?"
"Just buying a pretty girl a drink. Didn’t realize that was a crime." Victor said as he put down his hands and glanced over at Lexi.
"Bullshit." Caleb shoved him again, causing Phoebe to try and pull him away but to no success. "You think I don’t know your family’s games? Your dad’s been messing with Tommy and me since I slept with his girlfriend. So what’s the play here? Get close to Lexi to get to us?"
"Whoa, back up. Nobody’s using anybody." Lexi finally said, pulling Caleb away from Victor. "Xander's kid or not we were just talking,"
"Right. Talking," Caleb shook her head. "You really that naive, Lexi? He's clearly planning on using you…"
"Relax, McNamara. Not everything’s about you." Victor rolled his eyes.
"Jesus, Caleb!" Phoebe shouted as Caleb instead of shoving Victor decided to punch Victor instead who fell back towards the bar.
"That's all you got?" Victor said, wiping the blood from his lip.
Caleb attempted to punch Victor again but Victor ducked and punched Caleb in the stomach and was about to punch Caleb again when all of a sudden Adrianna appeared between the two stopping the pair from fighting her hands pressing against both men’s chest.
“Enough!” Adrianna shouted, causing both men to take a step back and she looked over at Victor. "If I was you, I'd get out of here. Now."
"Guess we’ll have to finish that conversation another time." Victor told Lexi before turning and walking out of the bar whilst Caleb took a step back and looked over at Lexi and Phoebe who had her arm around her cousin.
"You’re unbelievable," Lexi muttered, shaking her head before turning away to walk back to their booth and Phoebe followed.
Upon hearing those words and seeing Phoebe stuck between wanting to defend him and comfort her cousin whilst also still seeing red upon seeing Victor, Caleb stormed out of the bar from a side door and in anger he punched the wall.
"Jesus, Caleb." Caleb heard a voice say and he saw Adrianna standing behind him. "Are you trying to break your hand?" Adrianna added as Caleb turned around to face him. "You think punching walls solves anything? Or was that just practice before you go after Victor again?"
"Like you’d understand." Caleb scoffed.
"Try me." Adrianna stepped closer to Caleb. "Because from where I’m standing, you’re acting exactly like the reckless idiot Xander wants you to be. You think throwing fists at his kid makes you look strong? It just proves him right, that you’re easy to manipulate."
"Manipulate?" Caleb laughed. "Victor was playing Lexi. Someone had to…"
"Had to what? Protect her?" Adrianna interrupted. "Lexi doesn’t need your help. She would have been fine and if you’d stopped swinging your fists for five seconds, you might’ve realized that." Adrianna paused briefly before continuing. "This isn’t about her. This is about you. You’re so busy proving you’re not scared of Xander that you’re handing him exactly what he wants. A reason to escalate."
"You don’t know me," Caleb muttered.
"Oh, I know you better than you think. The stubbornness? Hotheadedness? You’re just like your father." Adrianna commented.
"Dad’s not…" Caleb told her.
"I don't mean Patrick," Adrianna sighed, taking a brief pause before deciding to tell Caleb the truth. "Biologically, anyway."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Caleb said in confusion.
"Your Mom doesn't want you to know but Patrick isn't your father," Adrianna revealed. "My brother Peter is,"
"Yeah, right." Caleb scoffed. "You're out of your mind."
"I wish I was." Adrianna stepped closer. "Eighteen years ago, your mother was undercover with Peter. Things happened…"
"Bullshit." Caleb said as he took a step back. "Patrick's my dad. He's been there for every goddamn…"
"Birthday, basketball game, school trips, accidents," Adrianna finished. "I know. And he loves you. But biology doesn't lie, Caleb. You've got Peter's stubbornness, his temper, even his damn smile. Now that I know, I can see all that and that's why someone has to tell you the damn truth…"
"You're lying," Caleb shook his head. "Patrick's my father. He… No. This is some fucked-up mind game."
"Caleb…" Adrianna said, stepping closer and trying to reach out only for him to take another back, almost flinching from her touch.
"Stop." Caleb told her, shaking his head and before Adrianna could react or comfort him better, Caleb took off, darting out of the alleyway.
Wanting to chase after him, Adrianna decided against it, wanting to give him a moment to adjust to the news. However the redhead knew even if he came to terms with the revelation that Peter was his father, Caleb, the situation was getting messier and messier and so she took out her phone, opened the contacts and dialled Peter's phone number.
"Peter. It's me," Adrianna said as she reached his voicemail. "Your son's in trouble. Yes you heard me right. I don't know where you are or what shitstorm you're wrapped up in but you need to call me back. Now.”
