Chapter 8 by Mr Nice Guy Mr Nice Guy

What's next?

Far Enough?

Rachel had to admit that the wings were good. She'd never been to a Hooters before, had never felt the desire to visit in the past. There were so many other places to spend her money, places that didn't objectify women. No way was Rachel going to support a business that made women put on a display for men the way Hooters did.

Now, though...

It was weird. She had been served by a man named Adam, a young-ish man with long brown hair, a thin waist, and deep cleavage. Rachel knew he was a man after glancing at his groin, but that was the only indicator. Hooters hadn't just hired men to be waitresses, but they had made sure the men took the image seriously.

Rachel knew that she should feel righteous, that she had struck a victory for women everywhere, but instead she felt uncomfortable. When Adam approached her table with a wide smile and cheery greeting, Rachel had a hard time meeting his eyes, instead dropping her gaze down to the menu. Was it because she wasn't used to men in drag? That couldn't be it. She had three great friends who performed on weekends in drag, and it had always been a blast to see the shows. Maybe it was the power imbalance, the way the men were now, in a sense, just stand-ins for the women, still objectifying women, the image of women, even though they were men. Maybe...

"Hey toots!" a bearded man in a plaid jacket sitting near the bar shouted at Adam as he walked in from the kitchen, "get that sweet ass of yours over here and get me another beer!"

"Right away, honey," Adam smiled, putting a spring in his step.

Rachel fumed. Maybe it wasn't any of those things. Maybe it was that she hadn't taken it far enough...
