How does the battle unravel?

Fangs vs. Hearts: Maria's Destiny

Chapter 15 by foxloversi

Maria stood at the entrance of the fateful nightclub, her heart pounding in anticipation. It was the place where she had met Nikolai, a moment that changed her life forever. Now, she was here to fulfill the plan devised with Connor and Steve, to lure Nikolai into their trap.

As the music throbbed through her skin, Maria couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and dread. Her conflicting emotions intensified, torn between the dangerous allure of Nikolai and her commitment to Steve, a struggle for control over her desires.

She found a quiet corner and concentrated on her inner self. With the help of meditation technique Conor taught her she searched for Nikolai. With every passing moment, Maria could sense Nikolai's presence drawing nearer, obviously not a mere coincidence. The air crackled with anticipation, and she knew it was time to make her move. She made her way through the crowded dance floor, the rhythm of the music blending with the beat of her racing heart.

Outside the club, Maria found herself in a deserted alley, dimly illuminated by the flickering neon lights. This was the place where Nikolai first fed on her. It was the perfect setting to draw him in, to tempt him with the promise of what he believed she still craved.

Leaning against the graffiti-covered wall, Maria closed her eyes, willing her repressed emotions to the surface. She had to make Nikolai believe that she was still under his spell, that she still longed for his fangs. It was a risky game as her desires for Nikolai could overwhelm her anytime.

And then, she heard it. The familiar sound of Nikolai's footsteps approaching, his presence filling the silence of the alley. Fear and anticipation intertwined as her heart raced and her hands trembled.

Nikolai emerged from the shadows, his eyes gleaming with hunger and desire. He took a step closer, his predatory instincts honed to perfection. "Maria," he whispered, his voice a seductive caress on the night air. "I knew you would come."

Maria opened her eyes, her gaze meeting Nikolai's with a combination of defiance and desire. "I...I couldn't stay away," she replied, her voice filled with a blend of longing and hesitation.

Their bodies moved closer, their cravings and attraction lingering in the air. Nikolai reached out, his hand brushing against Maria's cheek. "You belong to me, Maria," he murmured. "You can't deny what we have."

Maria's heart jumped at his words, the truth of her desire for him echoing within her. But she had made a choice, a choice to stand beside Steve, the man who had risked everything for her.

Summoning all her strength, Maria took a step back, a bittersweet smile playing on her lips. "No, Nikolai," she said, her voice firm and resolute. "I choose a different path. A path that leads me away from your darkness and towards love, real love."

Nikolai's eyes narrowed, a mixture of anger and disbelief flickering across his face. "You're denying me?" he sneered, his voice laced with a dangerous edge. "Stop fooling yourself, Maria. Deep down, you're drawn to me and you know it."

A surge of defiance coursed through Maria, fueling her resolve. She reached into her pocket, her hand closing around the small vial of liquid Connor had given her. Without hesitation, she flung it at Nikolai's feet, shattering it into a cloud of sparkling dust.

In that moment, the alley was enveloped in a blinding light. Nikolai stumbled backward, twisting and contorting in agony. The dust had contained a concoction designed to weaken him, to strip him of his power and control.

As Maria's vial shattered, releasing the temporary weakening agent into the air, Steve and Connor emerged from their hiding spot, gripping their weapons tightly. Steve handed Maria another sword, meant to be used as a last resort, knowing her conflicting emotions might prevent her from joining the fight. They shared a glance filled with determination and concern for the impending battle.

Their confidence wavered as Nikolai, his strength rapidly returning, stood before them, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "You fucking idiots. Did you honestly think that stupid dust would be enough to stop me?" he stormed, his voice dripping with disdain. "I am 800 years old, Maria! It seems you still have much to learn."

Connor lunged forward, his axe raised high, hoping to strike a decisive blow. But Nikolai sidestepped the attack with ease. "So, Connor, we finally meet," Nikolai taunted, his voice laced with amusement. "We have a codename for you - the village idiot. It really suits you."

Steve joined the fight from the other side and Connor returned the taunt. "You're outmanned, Nikolai. I finally got you."

Nikolai was aware he was basically surrounded so he had to change that fast. In a calculated move, he deliberately exposed himself to Connor, enticing him to lunge forward in attack. Connor fell for the bait, slashing Nikolai's shoulder, but the vampire swiftly evaded the full force of the blow. With lightning speed, Nikolai disarmed Connor, spinned with his weapon and delivered a devastating strike, breaking his back and leaving him incapacitated and motionless on the ground.

Seeing the opportunity, Steve managed to stab Nikolai in the back, forcing him to divert his attention. They clashed, Nikolai wielding Connor's axe while Steve fought with his sword. Each clash of their weapons echoed through the alley, the tension thick in the air. Despite his injuries, Nikolai's superior strength allowed him to gain the upper hand.

"Maria will never truly be yours," Nikolai jeered, a twisted smile playing on his lips. "You're just a passing distraction, she craves the pleasure only I can offer."

His provocation worked. Steve, fueled by a mix of rage and desperation, lunged at Nikolai. With a swift and tricky maneuver, he struck Steve on the head with the blunt side of the axe, causing Steve to collapse, unconscious.

But just as Nikolai's axe descended towards Steve's vulnerable form, Maria's instincts kicked in. Drawing upon every ounce of strength and determination, she intercepted the blow with her own weapon, parrying Nikolai's attack at the last possible moment.

The clash of steel rang out through the alley, the force of their collision sending shockwaves through Maria's body. She gritted her teeth, her muscles straining against the weight of Nikolai's strike. Every fiber of her being screamed with the effort, but she held firm, refusing to let her love fall victim to Nikolai's cruelty.

A mixture of surprise and frustration flashed across Nikolai's face, momentarily breaking his composed demeanor. "You dare defy me, Maria?" he snarled, his voice tinged with anger. "I told you, stop fooling yourself."

Maria's eyes blazed with defiance, her voice steady and resolute. "He means everything to me," she declared with determination. "I won't let you take him away from me."

"Stop fighting me, Maria. I know what you truly desire, why are you pretending? You crave for what you experienced with me, don't deny it!" Nikolai taunted her, aiming directly at Maria's inner conflict. Her focus began to waver, her mind briefly clouded by Nikolai's taunts. It was in that moment of distraction that Nikolai seized the opportunity, swiftly disarming her, sending her sword spinning out of reach.

"No!" Maria gasped, her heart pounding.

Nikolai's laughter echoed through the alley. "Finally, I have you right where I want you," he sneered, his eyes gleaming with triumph.

As Nikolai disarmed her, he released the axe, pushed her against the wall, his grip enclosing her arms, causing a surge of vulnerability to course through her. She strained against his hold, her voice trembling with resistance. "No, Nikolai," she asserted. "I won't succumb to your darkness. I won't let you consume me."

But his gaze, smoldering with predatory hunger, locked onto her. His lips curved into a seductive smile with his fangs in the open. Maria's heart raced, torn between the intoxication of his presence and the clarity of her mission. Conflicting emotions roared within her, a battle between duty and dark desire.

"It's ok, Maria, relax. You know I won't hurt you. Remember how great it was and decide if you truly want to deny yourself that again." Nikolai spoke softly directly to her soul. He leaned in for a kiss but at the last moment Maria turned her face to the side to avoid his lips. Doing this she left her neck exposed and Nikolai seized the offered opportunity.

With his fangs sinking into her neck, a familiar surge of sensations erupted, overwhelming her senses. Maria gasped, pushing against him, her voice strained with defiance. "Get off of me, you son of bitch," she demanded, her voice sounding more like a desperate plea. "I won't surrender to your embrace."

Don't panic, I have trained for this, I know how to resist it.

Yet, as he started sucking her blood, a shiver of pleasure intertwined with her resistance. Her body betrayed her as the euphoria slowly unfurled, her voice now a mixture of surrender and uncertainty. "Please stop, don't do this," she barely managed to stifle her moans.

Fuck, I forgot how great this feels. I have to figure out a way to ignore it.

As Nikolai continued to drink from her, the overwhelming pleasure seeped into her veins, weakening her resolve. Sensing this, Nikolai released her arms and hugged her closely. Maria's voice quivered with a blend of surrender and conflicted yearning. "No," she moaned, her voice filled with mingled pleasure and longing. "I... I shouldn't want this, but it feels... too good."

No, how could I've given in so quickly, I can't control myself anymore!

Nikolai's grip tightened as he left her neck, his eyes penetrating her very soul. "Give in to the pleasure, Maria," he whispered, his voice thick with desire. "Embrace the darkness within you. You crave this, deep down."

His fangs returned to her neck, accompanied with the sounds of gulping and her resistance wavered, her voice trembling with the weight of her internal struggle. "I... I can't resist any longer," she confessed, her voice laced with both reluctance and longing.

This is too good to resist, fuck the meditation. God, I've missed this feeling!

With each passing moment, Maria's protests diminished, replaced by a melody of moans and gasps as his bite deepened. She no longer pushed him away but tugged him closer, her fingers in his hair encouraging him to continue. Nikolai's bite consumed her, drowning out the remnants of her defiance. Her voice, now a symphony of surrender, filled the space between them. "Yes," she breathed, her words a whispered surrender. "I can no longer deny it...ahhh...Nikolai, I need this. Drink from me, my love...I want this."

I want this to last forever, I never want him to stop! Why did I even resist it? This is so fucking amazing!

But just as the moment seemed destined for eternal surrender, a sudden, powerful blow struck Nikolai from behind. Steve, fueled by his love for Maria, ran his sword through his ribs from the side, not wanting to injure Maria in the process. Nikolai yanked back and screamed in agony. He turned around, the entire sword still remaining jabbed in his torso, and clenched his fingers around Steve's throat.

Maria, slowly coming down from the bliss, opened her eyes and tried to figure out what the hell was actually going on in front of her.

Steve managed to gurgle, "Maria...the axe...finish him."

Maria, still under the influence of Nikolai's wondrous bite, watched the scene in shock, trying to comprehend the situation.

"Maria...help..." Steve managed to utter, his eyes darting from her to axe on the ground.

Maria finally realized what she had to do. She took the axe from the ground and decided she would end this once and for all.
