Suddenly the door opened with a swoosh, bathing the room in bright light, momentarily blinding the aged Jedi. The figure standing in the doorway was unmistakable.

"Oh, good you're awake." Vader said cheerfully as he entered the room. Obi-Wan glared at his former apprentice who had destroyed everything that was right in the Galaxy. Though he strangely wondered if Anakin had always been so handsome. He shook his head clear of those strange thoughts.

"Qui-Gon Jinn should've left you on Tatooine." he snarled something he'd been thinking for the last couple of decades.

Vader just shrugged unconcerned. "You wouldn't be the first Jedi to say such a thing to me, even before I turned." he said. "But we're not here to discuss the past, Obi-Wan. We are here to discuss the future - specifically your future." he pointed to his former Master with a smirk.

Glaring at the Dark Lord with hate unbecoming of a Jedi Master, Kenobi snarled "If you think for a moment that I would ever join you, then the Dark Side has truly done a number on your mind!"

Still Vader was grinning, even as he shook his head. "Oh not what I had in mind, My Former Master. Tell me, do you remember our little adventure on Mortis?"

Obi-Wan nodded absently. Yes, he remembered Mortis. The beginning of the end he realised.

It was about a month after Ahsoka turned 18, the three Jedi were investigating some sort of distress call, while Senator Amidala (or should that be Skywalker?) had joined them when she had been asked to negotiate some sort of dispute in the same location. After Anakin and Ahsoka had finished 'welcoming the Senator aboard' while Obi-Wan had sat in the cockpit, they arrived at the coordinates. Suddenly they had blacked out and found that their ship had landed on some sort of planet.

It was there that they met a beautiful woman called 'Daughter' who seemed quite interested in Anakin, asking him if he was 'the One'. Sadly he didn't get to know more, as Obi-wan was quickly separated from the group.

After what felt like hours of walking in circles, the Jedi Master eventually found his former Padawan, his Grand-Padawan and the Senator, speaking to the Daughter and two other figures who he could never quite remember. Everything blurred after that, with Kenobi believing the cause to due to hunger and exhaustion. All that he knew was that they were soon back on the ship in empty space. When asked what had happened, Anakin had explained that the Mortis Gods as they called themselves had made him go through some sort of trials with his Padawan and the Senator as Bargaining Chips. He claimed that they seemed to be testing him for something, only to send him back when it was over with no explanation.

Obi-Wan wasn't sure at the time if Anakin was being honest, but did not question it. All that he knew was that Anakin was never quite the same after that day. Oh, he acted the same but there was a strange aura about him that honestly scared him. It was also the last time that he and Anakin worked together until Palpatine was kidnapped.

Funnily enough, after Mortis it seemed every female Jedi in the Order wanted to go on missions with Skywalker. Even supposedly stalwart Masters of the High Council, such as Shaak Ti and Depa Bilapba (and her teen Padawan, Carlie Dume) acted as giddy schoolgirls around Anakin Skywalker. Even more than they did after his former Padawan turned 18.

Vader spoke, bringing Kenobi out of his memories. "The Gods showed me the Future of this Galaxy, Obi-Wan. What would happen if either the Jedi or the Sith won the War. If the Jedi won, they would assume control of the Republic and turn the Galaxy into an Emotionless and Lifeless wasteland. If the Sith won then we would be thrown into an endless on-again-off-again war. Trillions would die." he said in a tone that full of such fear and emotion that, while the Jedi wanted to be disgusted at how un-Jedilike his former Padawan was acting, Obi-Wan strangely wanted to wrap his arms around Skywalkers big, strong shoulders and hug him. He shook his head to clear it of such strange thoughts as Anakin continued to speak.

"But then they showed me a new path. One where I would truly bring Balance to the **** and lead the Galaxy into an everlasting Peace." He placed his hand to the side of Kenobi's face, but the man flinched. "You saw for yourself while we were there exactly what the future would entail but you had to forget. Let me in, Obi-Wan and I can show you the true memory."

Kenobi wanted to refuse, hearing a voice that sounded like Yoda telling him not to trust the Dark Lord, but a louder voice suggested that if he was to let Anakin into his mind then he could try to sneak past his defenses and try to bring him back to the light. It could work and then he could have his friend back.

With this thought in mind, Obi-Wan nodded looking deeply into the glowing violet of Anakin's eyes (such a beautiful shade) and opened his mind to the Dark Lord.

So focused was he on Anakin's beautiful eyes, he failed to notice to evil grin on the Emperors face.
