Fallout

A world that never made it out of the "cold war," unless you count it becoming an actual war. The world leaned into atomic power, fear of the other, and rampant consumption of natural resources with little interest in long-term investments in the wellbeing of the people or the planet, until society destroyed itself. You were unfortunate enough to have suddenly landed in a world where what little is left untouched by radiation is cherished by a world that never seemed to move on, clinging to rusted remnants of the past... At least you don't have to explain why you don't have a birth certificate or SSN when you arrive.
