With that in mind, you spin towards Edward hoping to catch him and get into a close fight. You need the element of surprise to be able to do this, so you don't hesitate to go all out from the start by fully transforming.

"Wrong move, Max!" He says, as he also transforms to counter you. You make contact but due to inertia, you manage to push him back until he hits the wall. Glad to have gotten the upper hand, you decide to grab and hold him there. After all, you don't plan to fight to the ****. Keeping him busy until Tom escapes will do.

Unfortunately, plans never go according to plan, and you hear "I'm immortal!!" from behind.

You involuntarily look behind and see Tom running towards you. You get to see his red eyes before Edward manages to toss you off him. Tom managed to break your focus and now you find yourself thrown towards the floor.

"Nooooo!" Before you can get up, Tom is already next to Edward and tries to attack him, but there is no way a fledgling vampire can do anything against a seasoned Alpha. He couldn't even win against Leyla, for fucks sake. You did see how his wounds healed quickly when you freed him, but you couldn't have guessed he would do something so stupid.

Edward simply grabs his hand and smashes him against the wall, and then pierces his torso with his other hand.

"No, no, no..."You scramble to your feet and hurry towards Tom. In response, Edward pulls his hand back and lets go of his body, allowing him to fall to the floor.

Your attention is concentrated on Tom, so you don't even see the fist that is coming for your head as you try to pass Edward. The first few hits almost send you into a blackout. You fall to the ground, and Edward gets on top of you, continuing to pummel your face. You don't even try to fight back, as the pain of losing your best friend right in front of you is too much.

Eventually, your body simply breaks down and you faint.

When you wake up, your whole body hurts like hell. You try to move and are pleasantly surprised to see that your body is free of restraints.

"Don't move!" comes Leyla's words.

"What happened?"

"Don't talk. Here, have something to drink." She says as she grabs a bottle of water and gives you a few sips.

*cough* *cough*

"Easy. Drink slowly"

"Where are we?"

"Where else? We're at the house, in the prison"

"I'm sorry... I tried... I... I..." you try to say something but the tears **** you, and you start crying as you remember Tom's last moments.

"It's not your fault... it's mine... if I just..." Leyla says as she hugs you, but your tears get to her, and she starts crying next to you.

Sure they haven't been together for too long, but they were friends before that, and there is no doubt she invested emotions in the relationship.

Hearing her cry breaks your heart, so you hug her back tightly.
