Chapter 24 by OathkeeperPath OathkeeperPath

Does Back up get there in time?

Failure again

Shocking Failure ( rought draft v2)

A sudden, searing pain shot through Ariea's body, and his vision went black. The last thing he heard was the villain's triumphant laughter and the sharp crackle of electricity.

When he came to, the world was a blurry haze. He could hear voices, distant and confused, and feel hands on him, helping him up. Blinking to clear his vision, he looked around to see the villain on the ground, crying and mumbling incoherently, her eyes wild with terror. She was screaming about something crawling under her skin, clawing at her being, taking more and more away from her.

"What happened?" Ariea managed to croak out, his voice raspy.

AISYS's voice came through, heavy with emotion. "I was **** into protection mode. I had to stop myself from killing her, even though your state **** me to meet the threat with **** prejudice. Please, don't ever let us get into that position again. I care for you, and I don't like what protection protocol turns me into. I never want to have to use that ability again. Please don't ask about the details."

Ariea's mind was reeling, trying to process what AISYS was saying and what he was seeing. The backup heroes were there, securing the scene and attending to the civilians. But everyone was staring at him, their eyes wide with shock and concern.

The villain was being carted away, still muttering and sobbing, her body trembling uncontrollably. Ariea couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible had happened, something that went beyond the simple capture of a criminal.

He was helped to his feet by one of the other heroes, who looked at him with a mixture of admiration and uncertainty.

"You did well, Ariea," they said, their voice hesitant. "But what happened here... it's going to raise some questions."

Ariea nodded, feeling a sinking sensation in his stomach. He had won, but at what cost? The villain's words haunted him, and AISYS's **** to share the details of what had occurred only added to his unease.

As the scene was cleared, and he was debriefed by the Agency,

The rest of the night was a blur, but one thought remained clear in his mind: he needed to understand what had happened, and he needed to ensure that it never happened again.

"Josh I know what you are going to ask but please not tonight, I'M...I'm not ok."

With that He went to bed for the first time, since the accident, alone in his own head.

Will there still be dream training?
