Repay her debt?
Fail
Liandra knew Countess Elysa. Bright, young and beautiful, the countess was widely admired by the ladies of the court as a fine example of how far a woman could reach if she didn't resign to just stand at her husband´s shadow.
Liandra found Elyssa lecturing a few others, her audience was just about Liandra´s age. The topic appears to be the virtues of a lady of the court "Modesty, just as a men is supposed to be a braggart. And please, that is what they all are, isnt that so?" general laugh
"Culture! no one likes to speak with a bore, unless he is just as much of a simpleton. You definitely don't want to be marked as a naive pretty girl, it would be almost impossible for you to recover other´s respect afterwards..." Did they truly not respect her?
"how about obedience?" One of the girls asked, sounding like a challenge. But Elyssa took in stride "Indeed, one of the greatest virtues! You must be soft and pleasing, but firm and stern if you want to command men´s obedience." They all laughed at the inversion of roles, most Luxian ladies were meek and submissive, Elyssa was a bit of a rogue for growing above the prejudice.
"Princess" Amid all the laugh someone noticed the princess, and they all curtisized a bow to her. She waved it off "I am just another student here, we all have much to learn" That sparkled another round of debates, how Liandra´s adventure fit Elyssa´s teachings. They were both very careful, the last thing they needed was a bunch of noblewomen chasing their own adventures in dangerous dungeons.
Much later the princess was sitting next to the countess, it had been a long interlude, even if light and good natured. There had been dance and sing, and shows of how to give proper courtesy, and even a display on knowledge of the Litany, Liandra could give just a perfect impersonation of the priest, even if she never considered it funny. In the Elyssa dismissed the girls, saying they were all very late if they wanted to look presentable during dinner.
The countess thanked the princess for her help, and Liandra made a little small talk. She prided herself when she got the countess off-guard "hm, and can I see the bracelet?"
"... I think I imagine which you are talking about, princess, but I don't have it anymore." Liandra made a face, and Elyssa looked insulted "it is true, I wouldn't lie to your highness."
Does Liandra believe her? ? the whole story?
