Fabricate a boat and take the whole beast back

You decide that other parts of the amimal might be valuable as well, so you fabricate a boat to travel downriver to retrieve the whole thing. Gena looks on in awe as the fabricator works, and you think it must look like magic to her.

The trip itself was fairly uneventful. You try yo go alone, but Gena gabbers and climbs into the boat with you. You roll your eyes and let her come with you.

She talks the whole time there and back, but you don't mind. It's been a while since you had company, and besides that, she is not bad to look at.

When you get back, you use your knife to obtain the gland and feed it to the dematerializer you salvaged from your shuttle, then the raw material into the fabricator while Gena looks on. She falls silent as the machine works. It spits out the universal translator and you attach it to your belt. Gena looks at you expectantly.

"My name is Eric. I can understand you now." You feel kind of stupid saying it, but you aren't sure what else you are supposed to say.
