Exploring the Taint

‘Taint City? Who named this place.’ She thought seeing the name of the building exited.

The buildings around her were on the short side at only a few stories, getting taller in the distance when looking in the direction she assumed east. The taller buildings were in that direction.

Walking on the grass, Sadie wanted to get a better look at her surroundings. So she tried jumping straight up with all her might.

‘Woah!’ She thought jumping several stories straight up and then panicking when falling down.

“Ahhhhh!”

Thump.

She landed in a classic superhero pose with little effort. A few more jumps and she was able to gauge her leaping strength and distance.

‘Alright, here I go.’

She leapt and landed perfectly on the one story morgue building. Unfortunately the roof was of the gravel kind.

“Damn it! I need some shoes.”

It may have done her zero damage, but it was still uncomfortable.

‘Maybe I should just walk around for awhile.’

Jumping back to the grass, she started exploring in the direction of the taller buildings in the distance.

Most of the buildings passed were covered in graffiti of some type. Others had neon glowing signs.

As Sadie walked by an alley she stopped and turned, drawn by some pulling **** in her mind. She passed out the other side, wanted for a couple cars to pass before crossing, then continued only to go into another alleyway. This happened a few times until from one alley she heard some men talking.

Several men were putting a few plastic containers into a box truck with no wheels resting on metal struts. It was wider at the bottom all around with a green glow from underneath.

‘So thats an Aether hover truck. The man with the silver case reeks of foulness. The others around him have some amount of wickedness in them, but I sense it is redeemable somehow.’

She knew he needed to die for some reason. That he may end up corrupting others and him living would be a stain on this world. It was weird to her.

‘Let’s try this out.’

Concentrating, Sadie focused to bring out her mask. A glittery black domino mask covered her upper face and fuchsia became blonde.

She jumped up onto the warehouse and crept along the roof.

‘I should focus on the guy with the case, then…maybe I should just take the bag. It’s probably money, and my butt is broke.’

It took practically no time at all. She jumped the two stories down right behind the scumbag, quickly broke his neck, grabbed the case, then jumped back up.

“What was that?”

“What happened to the boss?”

“What happened to Clive?”

The men below argued.

“I saw a chick wearing a mask.”

“Yeah, the naked chick stole the money.”

"You're a pervert Pete. There's..."

All their guns were out at this point and Sadie was listening from beyond the roofs edge. The case in her hand was small, maybe the size of a purse. Looking inside she counted 4 stacks of silver 50 credit notes worth 5,000 credits each according to the label.

If she remembered correctly from the info download 100 bits were a credit, 1 credit was grey iron colored, 10 copper, 25 bronze, 50 silver, and 100 gold. There was nothing above that and rare to see golds in the slums.

‘I guess I’m a vigilante now.’

"We paid for it, its ours. This happened in tour territory."

"Fuck that!"

She latched the case and then started to run to the other side of the building. There she surveyed another warehouse, then jumped. All this happens silently as she hopped from one warehouse to another until landing on a random sidewalk.

‘Now whereto?’

It was then that she heard shots from where she came. So she leapt across the street, then started running across the roofs of residences'.

'Oh well, less scumbags in the world. This is fun!'
