Explanations

Alice and Sam spoke at length for a while. Sam couldn't tell how long they actually talked as the void didn't seem to change at all, but it felt like a couple of hours.

As Sam spoke, she realized that Alice could only say things that she had said before, so Sam gave Alice her rendition of the phonetic alphabet, letting her talk on her own. After that their conversations became more in depth.

Alice explained that she didn't know where they were, just that she was here with Sam once she spoke. Alice knows Sam's thoughts and feelings just as well as Sam does and explains that she is more than just a copy of Sam, they are essentially one in the same, however neither of them seem to know what exactly that means for them.

Sam starts to think about the place they're in and how Alice was essentially created when she was looking for anyone in the void.
