Explaining the punishment

"Well what's next then huh? Gonna harass me some more!?" Jessica asked angrily, fed up with everything. "Now you get to be told your punishment." The receptionist responded, smiling at Jessica. "Oh great, wonderful, can't wait, so what will my punishment be then?" Jessica asked, sarcastically.

The receptionist pressed a few more keys on her keyboard. "Be patient Jessica, I'll see you on the other side!" The receptionist waved at Jessica, as the guard and Mildred followed with the same gesture. Jessica didn't know what the receptionist meant, until the wall she'd been clamped to suddenly started to turn like a temple secret door. As Jessica turned with the wall, the receptionist said her goodbyes to Mildred and the guard and thanked them for their service. "So will you be visiting this one like the others you've caught?" She asked Mildred. "Well of course, this one's caused so much trouble I need to see how the reformation takes effect."

The wall had fully turned around, greeting Jessica with complete darkness. She could faintly see a projector screen infront of her, which she confirmed when a video was projected onto it. A man in his forties appeared on the screen. He was sat behind a fancy wooden desk. "Hello unwanted citizen of Pinesdale, it looks like you've caused enough trouble to be considered a threat to the society. Now I know you must be having a thousand questions so allow me to explain." The man spoke.

"Pinesdale has thrived upon having a safe environment for all citizens, with our low crime rate helping us achieve this. In order to get a low crime rate, we introduced a permit system where well behaved citizens could remain living here. The only way to get a permit is to prove you are a safe and hard working person. Therefore, anyone without a permit is immediately considered unsafe, unlawful, and a threat to our great town!" The man explained. Jessica desperately wanted to record this or take notes, to further add to her case.

"That's where you come in, you fit this unsafe category, and therefore we have **** but to keep you here at this reformation facility until we deem it necessary for you to leave. Please do not think of this as prison, it is far from it. On the other side of the room you are in, is a simulated town, designed for the humiliation and punishing of individuals such as yourself. You will be tested to the limits, punished severely, and altered in many ways, but you will eventually leave this place a better and much more of a safe person." The man continued his explanation.

Jessica was shocked at how sadistic this sounded, the only crime being committed in Pinesdale was the cruelty by it's leaders. She didn't know how far this system reached, but she knew it was bad. Although she was in a good position to gather intel about this place, it was incredibly unfortunate she'd ended up a prisoner herself. She would need to escape somehow and find proof of this system's existence.
