Experiment on Yutong

You need to test something else, something different, to be sure this machine really did anything at all.

Make observations. Test hypothesis. That's the scientific method. Yutong would be proud if she could see into your head.

Speaking of Yutong, you glance over at the shy, geeky Asian girl - she's still fretting over the possible toxicity of the Bimbo Juice Pearl just drank.

Yu has a blue streak in her dark hair to be cool, but her Nintendo shirt and jean shorts mark her as a casual at heart - physically, Yu's a waif - short, petite, and with a cute face, now that you're actually noticing her for something not homework related. She was't this cute Freshman year, was she? She's always had her nose buried in books, hidden behind glasses, or lanky hair (when she went through that brief emo/goth phase Sophomore year).

If Yu knew what happened with Pearl, her scientific curiosity would demand you find out if it was a fluke, right? She might even volunteer to test it out herself.

Like that, you volunteer Yutong for your next experiment - though, you don't want to do anything that might hurt her.

Worried, you to turn to Pearl. "You said it was good?"

Pearl nods vehemently. "And I don't even like bubblegum. Weird, right?"

"If you start feeling sick," says Yuttong, wringing her hands, "make sure you tell us. Don't wander off somewhere to rest where we coouldnn't find you if you lost consciousness."

You let out a breath. You're tense - as you should be, with what you've stumbled onto. The first thing you do when you discover magic is plot to use Yutong as a guinnea pig? Are you seriously considering this?

But observing Yutong, who's fretting so diligently over Pearl's - and everyone's welfare - you wonder if an adventure might just do her some good. There's even a nerd button on the Juicer - you can change Yutong straight back after you're done.

This might be Yutong's last chance to cut loose and have some fun. When she goes to UCLA or MIT or whatever her college for smart people is, she'll be away from her friends, away from the people who know her best. Who knows if she'll make new friends, or ever put aside time for herself again?

If the machine can spice up Yutong's night, even as a short experiment, you shouldn't hesitate to use it.
