Chapter 18 by Tostito675
What's next?
Exit the building and try to find your boys
You leave the room and head for the main door of the building. Concentrating, you do hear slight movement. Boots on pavement in the small parking lot would be your guess. You fight panic at the lack of connection with your children outside. You decide shock and awe is the way to go, and burst through the front door ready to race toward the approaching humans. You now know why you couldn't smell anything as you find yourself caught up in clear plastic sheeting, the whole building exterior is covered in it, you wonder how they could have done this without waking you.
Your spikes tear many holes as you are tangled in the plastic sheeting as you try to find a grip with your fingers to tear it off you. The dozen or so men in the parking lot stop sneaking toward the building and open fire with weapons you don't recognize. Large projectiles with needles on the tip puncture the plastic, but break or bend upon your skin.
"Negative skin penetration! Flame units!"
Two men in silver body suits and headgear come running from either side of the small building and engage flamethrowers. The pain is intense as the twin jets of flame lick over your form, covering your body in melting plastic. You roar, now freed but in agony, and charge the soldiers ahead of you, hoping to get away from the flames. Your tear through the men like paper, limbs flying and screams filling the air. You bellow at the three who managed to run away, then turn back to deal with the 'flame units'. It appears watching their comrades ripped apart broke their courage, they are no longer there. You hear a thudding sound approaching and look to the sky. You recognize this machine as a helicopter. It will be upon you soon. You look around for a way to fight it, and send your children inside a telepathic command to wake their mother and leave the building through the back.
You climb a nearby tree, hoping that you might be able to leap high enough to get a hold of the helicopter as it passes overhead. You coil your body and leap over thirty feet as it passes overhead, grabbing a large tube hanging from the side and scrambling up, your claws piercing the metal sides. The helicopter starts swaying from side to side, whether damaged or in an attempt to shake you. You climb along it's side in two arm lengths and punch through the glass surrounding a man inside. You grab him by the head, your large hand cracking his helmet as you squeeze. The helicopter goes into a spin, losing altitude as it swings wildly over the train station.
You crash hard into a train car, your body pierce by a broken piece of hull plating as the rotors snap off against the car and fly off onto the tracks. The wreck pins you in place, the smell of fuel and blood fills your nose. Your heart and mind break as your both feel and see your younger children being burned at the back of the building by the men who burned you earlier. You can't see Mira, but there is no plastic over the backdoor. It must have been their planned point of entry. You hear the report of a gun shot echo from inside as you try to push the wreck off you with little success.
One of the men runs over and levels their flamethrower at you and the wrecked helicopter.
"Wait! It's loaded up with missiles you stupid mother fuc--"
The second man's warning is cut off as the jet of flame ignites the leaking fuel and detonates the chopper and it's payload. The explosion is large enough to destroy the area, including the building. You don't care anymore.
Perhaps it was foolish to stay in the same place for too long. It appears you are being hunted.
