Chapter 16 by TheArchitect TheArchitect

Exit the White Mall?

Yes!

"My name is Janet Birch Megumi. This is my birth name, but I usually introduce myself as Jen, because a short name with a bright look make a memorable and easily-achieved impression.

My American Dad and my Japanese Mom are doing business in USA. Now that I look back to it... they kind of spoiled me. They were deep in their companies' management, and I was mostly left with a nanny that was instructed to make me happy.

I turned out to be an open person who wanted to be a part of society, so I attended a private school with other rich kids. By my adulthood, I became a big part of the city's nightlife. As I kept growing up, my parents' business had been growing up as well. Too many people knew that I was their only child, so I got targeted by local kidnappers.

It wasn't hard to get me. I was tired and drunk after another careless night. I remember my friends leaving the bar in no better state than me. They saw the two men pulling a sack over my head and putting me in the trunk, but they were too far to help.

Luckily, a patrolling police car managed to spot them as well. They knew they fucked up, so they had to improvise to get them off before reinforcement arrived to corner them.

Soon other cars' sounds could no longer be heard. The kidnappers decided that their best bet is to kill the cops quickly and try to drive as far as they could, so they lured them to a lifeless place outside the city. They threatened to shoot me to gain momentum, then opened fire against the policemen. They answered. Then there was an impact to my head, and the next thing I remember... was waking up in the pink room of this bizarre place."

Jen was past the exit door, but it did not lead to green meadows with blue skies. She saw darkness. Scared by it, she turned back to the door, but it was no longer there. In fact, there was no sign of the building she just left, only open space. The girl looked into it and saw stars and galaxies.

"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. Wait, I shouldn't be able to breathe if it was real space, right?"

Suddenly, she saw a candle getting lit before her. Behind it, there was a male face of the person who did it. He was in his fourties, with short black hair and deep moustache.

"If I did not make an air bubble right there, this space would be more real than you would have preferred it."

Jen assumes this person knows something.
