Evie and Amanda go to a bar
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Moaning Mandy. Did someone stood you up?” Evie teased Amanda, sitting right next to her on the bar. The two women were dressed to impress, Evie in a tight black dress and Amanda wearing a fashionable white skirt. Their lips were red, their eyes adorned with eyelashes and shadow.
“Look who’s talking, Nekkid Evie. I don’t see your date anywhere either.”
“Yeah, but I just got here. You?” Evie ran her finger across the rim of the empty glass in front of Amanda. “You have been here a while, haven’t you?”
“None of your business. I’m sure Brad got stuck in traffic or something. He’ll arrive before your date, I’m sure.”
“Oh? Care to put it to bet?” Evie proposed.
“Shoot,” Evie flicked a paper ball with her index finger, aiming at Amanda’s cup. She scored. “Woot! What’s the score now?”
“Ugh, who cares. Where the hell is Brad?!” As if answering her query, Amanda’s phone vibrated with a new message. So did Evie’s phone. The rivals scrambled to check their texts. “Oh damn it! Brad says that her drummer slipped. He is taking a raincheck to rush her to the hospital.” Amanda sighed. “I guess you win by default.”
“Oh? Oh, right!” Evie replied, her face as expressionless as a sheet of paper. “Yeah, guess I won.”
Huh, that was weird. Evie was usually eager to rub her victories in Amanda’s face. Why was she so quiet? Unless... “You can’t fool me. Your date texted you as well, you also have been stood up!” Evie kept her lips sealed, shaking her head. “All right, gimme your phone.”
Amanda lunged to grab Evie’s phone out of her hands, her rival bitterly trying to keep it away from her. “Wait, ok, ok. You are right, jeez! The bet is off then, huh? A draw.”
Amanda returned to her seat to take another sip of her drink. She was a bit satisfied knowing she wasn’t the only lonely loser in the bar, but still, what a crappy way to spend Friday night. Although, maybe there was a way to make the evening more entertaining.
“Not necessarily. How about a new bet? Since both our dates are jerks, let’s pick new ones! We’ll each try to get a new date, the first one to get a kiss wins, the loser has to finish their new date wearing whatever the winner decides.”
