Chapter 7

Nightfall?
Eventful! (beholder attack)
We set our camp efficiently, as if we had long been working together. I took the first watch turn, Zack started to scout around camp, Gusnar offered to prepare food and Ruby went to her meditation.
"I take it you are very pretty for a human gall" It was my dwarf compenion.
"Thank you, Master dwarf. I often hear of the prowess of the graybeards, it is an honor to fight by your side."
"Heh, we are all nice and cozy. How do you like your meat?"
"Wait, did you hear that?" I turn around, and see the floating abomination. The huge sphere, the large central eye, the sharp fanged mouth, the tenebrous eye stalks. The legends say each eyestalk is a powerful mystical weapon, and the central eye is capable of nullifying all magic.
"Go gather the others...I will try to keep it busy!" I ignore the dwarf´s complain and charge. Myra´s grace, I trust you for my deliverance.
The monster lets a terrible roar when he sees me charging, its tendrils flapping madly as it sees me approach. A ray of light erupts from one tendril, and I have just enough time to parry it with mu sword. The next I dodge, sommersaulting at just the right time. I slash the creature, my sword drawing first blood!
I roll back, wary of the next attack. The next sequence comes as a volley, I even manage to escape the first ray, but the second hits me square in the chest, and for a moment I think I am dead. The next covers me in an eerie light, and I suddenly feel much lighter.
I am panting on my knees, my sword is gone, my armor is gone. I am wearing just my new green lingerie. I can feel the creature hovering nearer, I can hear him licking his lips. It is said one of the eyestalks can command people.
I flip away just before the purple ray hit me. I am unnarmed, but by Myra´s grace I am still not undone.
A thick bolt pierces one of the eye stalks, cutting it clean from the sphere. A large ball of fire explodes next, and the abomination turns to face my reinforcements. Arrows also, my companions waste no time assaulting the creature. It starts to float away, and on a whim I jump over it. This time several rays hit me, and I feel strangely unaffected. I Grab an eyestalk with each hand, and the creature howls in pain. The sphere begins to rotate randomly, panicked, and I tighten my grip, until I just cant hold it anymore. I am sent hurling in the waiting arms of Zack, while the beast makes her escape.
It must have been the adrenalin, for once I am safe i black out. I wake up only several hours later.
It is Ruby that is besides me, and I curl up, crying, glad to be alive. She tells me soothing words, and I bare my soul to her, showing the frail side beneath the armor. She accepts it, but also tells me how brave I was, even after I lost my armor I still kept on fighting, and thanks to my bravery the rest of our companions escaped unscathed.
"what i really don't understand is how. Your outfit, it somehow appears very resistant to physical and magical damage. But it doesn't appear to be the reason for your sudden strength, or your own resistance to the beholder´s magic. Sometimes a person can resist a ray or two, but I never seen someone take as much as you did today and continue fighting."
I lower my eyes, and cant hide my shame when I tell the circumstances on how I joined the group, my visit to the high priestess and the prophetic words she uttered.
"So... does that mean you will need to... " her reticence to say the same as I was thinking, that I will need to drink more cum if I want to defeat the beholder. We stay there for a long while, quiet. I just survived the hardest fight of my life, and I feel miserable. As if feeling my need, Ruby slips into bed with me, and holds me close, lulling me back to sleep.
