Esther's Side Quest
Esther sneaked between the tents across the camp, her bare feet making sure that her noise was at a minimum. Jasper’s wimpers provided the perfect background for the night, as She knew Nia was making sure Jasper was fully distracted.
The moon was high, casting a silver light that bathed her skin in an ethereal glow. She looked around making sure no eyes were on her, which then broke into a mad dash towards the mine, her fingers lifting the sides of her habit for mobility.
The chilling breeze of the mine rustled the fabric of Esther’s robes, her fingers swirled with a dexterity her young age wouldn't have.
“Let’s see if I still got it.” She, no, Cyrus said, then rested her eyelids as she filled her lungs with the cool night breeze.
Around her, luminescent circles spiraled into existence covering the broken rocks and scattered mining equipment in multi-colored lights. Cyrus’ heart raced, this was one of the first chances he used his own abilities since he woke up again, so he didn’t know what to expect. It seems the slugs inherited his mana veins after he was consumed, making the real question whether Esther’s body can handle someone else’s magic.
The beaming circles of light converged and covered the individual parts of her body she intended, which then the lights rescinded. Esther’s eyes fluttered open as she finally let go of her breath, followed by a smile creeping onto her face.
