Escape From Midgar

"Fire in the hole!" Jessie shouted as she lobbed a grenade from the back of the truck Tifa was driving. The grenade exploded, taking out a small group of Shinra soldiers pursuing Cloud, who was tailing the group on motorcycle.

"Damn fine throw, Jess," Barret remarked, firing off a few rounds at more pursuing Shinra forces. The two were situated in the back of the speeding truck attempting to help Cloud slow down their pursuers as they escaped. Meanwhile, in the front of the vehicle, Tifa was focused on the road ahead, trying desperately to avoid crashing into anything. "You're makin' my job a hell of a lot easier."

"I owe you that much," Jessie replied, tossing a second grenade. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you at the pillar. If I'd been there, Biggs & Wedge might still--"

"...Don't think like that, Jessie," Barret cut her off. "We all knew what we were gettin' into. Besides, if you'd been there, who knows what might've happened to you... Cloud! On your right!" he shouted, turning to fire a few shots at a Shinra helicopter. Cloud, meanwhile, was busy dealing with a Shinra motorcyclist attacking him from the left.

"Got it," Cloud said back, deftly swinging his sword from one side to the other and taking out the two bikers closing in.

Aerith sat next to Tifa alongside Red XIII as they focused on the road. "The others are cleaning up back there," Aerith told Tifa, trying to reassure her as Tifa concentrated on driving the speeding truck.

"Good to hear. We should be in the clear soon," Tifa answered. The chase continued for a few minutes, with the Shinra forces thinning out as the group dealt with each of the pursuers. Finally, a giant tank appeared, barreling its way towards them.

"Oh SHIT," Barret exclaimed as he fired upon the behemoth, which was mostly undeterred by his attack.

"Barret! Jessie! Focus on taking out the wheels!" Cloud instructed, pulling up besides the machine and hacking away at the tires. It proved to be enough of a distraction that the massive armored vehicle couldn't focus its fire on the speeding truck, which Tifa managed to keep steady; she managed to successfully dodge any incoming fire from the swerving pursuers while Barret & Jessie focused as best they could on helping Cloud.

"Got it!" Barret exclaimed as he and Jessie managed to blow out one of the vehicle's wheels. A well-placed slash from Cloud took the wheel out entirely, and the tank went flying into a nearby wall, crashing in spectacular fashion, leaving the group free to complete their escape.
