Epstein's Noose

As soon as the first band starts playing, I get a sinking feeling. Most of them look like deer in headlights, telling me it's their first show. I mean they play competently enough, but there's no energy or passion to it. In turn, no one really gets into it, minus a few people banging their heads. Turns out their name is 'Epstein's Noose' which will be dated by the time they put their first EP out on Bandcamp.

20 minutes later and Epstein's Noose leaves the stage. I turn to Sila and say "How was that?"

"Yeah alright."

"Next band should be better."

"I guess. Do you want another drink?"

"Sure. Just remember we gotta walk home yet."

"Eh, we can call an Uber we have to."

"Good point. How about I get this round?"

"Sure. Anyone can buy me a drink."

We share a laugh before I head to the bar. After exchanging money for booze, I go back to Sila, who's now talking with Will. Wonder if he heard our previous conversation?

Once I get to the two, I hand Sila her drink, to which Will says "Where's mine?"

"At the bar. Didn't have enough for it."

"Heh. I'm just fucking with you. I gotta drive anyway."

"Fair enough." Maybe we can save some money on an Uber.

Will then looks to my shirt. "So Crooks? They local?"

"British actually."

Both Will and I proceed to talk about bands, exchanging recommendations. Sila remains silent and probably doesn't have a clue about any of the bands we're talking about. Maybe I can expand her knowledge later if she's interested. After a few minutes of exchanging music recommendations, Will looks to Sila and asks "So are you having a good time?"

"Yeah." She replies.

"Sorry, you're just a bit quiet."

She flashes a smile. "I'm like that."

"She's just plotting her next ****." I jest.

Will gives my bad joke a mercy chuckle. "It's always the quiet ones."

"Always."

That's when the next band comes on stage.
